How many kids, ultimately?

Just curious, how many kids do ultimately want or would like? Do you feel like you want something different than you grew up with?

For instance, I grew up with just one other sibling and now, I'm hoping for three kids in our family.

I grew up with 2 sisters, one younger and one older. Always felt like I would have 3 kids. And when we bring Sophia home we will Ü And I feel complete now Ü

When we bring Madalynn home I will have 3 (2 stepsons and her) I would love more...I'd like her to have a sibling closer to her age (the boys are 13 and 15), but for the next little while we just wouldn't be able to swing it.

I am an only child, and I was hellbent that I would have more than one!

When we brought Max home I thought we were complete.

But...

We started the process last month to adopt a baby girl.

I never never never thought I'd have/want three children, but now I can't imagine having anything but!!!

I was an only child...

and I am glad things worked out that way for my particular circumstances... however, I have lots of aunts and uncles because my parents had siblings, and I have always thought the perfect number was 3.

Also, since we are starting parenting at a slightly "mature" age, (still young, but not as young as I had hoped we would be with number one), I feel it would be better for our child to have a sibling to share life's joys and sorrows.

DH only wants one though (and he has a brother and two sisters he is close with! go figure!). He says he wants to make sure Zoe has everything...

I am *hoping* we can compromise by adopting another in 3 years or so. I will cherish my one and can live with it if that is what he really wants, but I am hoping life with Zoe will make him want one more. Unfortunately with the Hague changes on the horizon, I think my dream of a baby boy from Guatemala may be unattainable.

D.

I grew up with one brother and one sister. Never really thought much about how many kids I'd like, but did always want to adopt. So did DH. We met, got married, had three bio, and adopted four times, three from Guatemala. Working on number eight. Sometimes I can't believe it myself. God has been so gracious to allow us this privelege. We often have people tell us they would like to adopt, but can't afford it. I'm not sure that's always true, because they usually drive much nicer cars than we do, take bigger vacations, etc, but each has to decide for their family. I'm so thankful our kids will have each other, long after we are gone.

I am one of three and I always thought it was a great number. My husband is also one of three but he likes the idea of two kids. I'm working on getting him to three and I don't think it will be too hard as long as we can afford it!

Growing up, it was my brother and myself. I ultimately want 4 kids-2 boys and 2 girls. But I will be happy with whatever child is meant to be mine!

I have one brother. I don't think I had a number in my head of just how many kids I wanted...but I did always think of adopting. I have 2 bio daughters and one Guatemalan son. We have discussed #4....but right now I feel "done." Of course that may change a year from now!

I'm the only child and always was surrounded by 12 cousins, so we were big! Before our baby i was thinking in three but after and at almost 40 I think that two is OK with us!

A houseful That's what I told my dad today! We currently have 5 children but would love to have more. With adopting this one, we will have 6. We have had 8 pregnancies though We are hoping and praying we have more, including this little one. Whether they're bio. or not doesn't matter to me. Children are such a gift from God and such a blessing.

I grew up with 3 siblings, dh has 1.

I hope God gives you the desires of your heart when it comes to growing your family,

Interesting thread! DH is one of six, while I have just one brother. And my parents are divorced, so it was just my mom, my brother, and I most of the time growing up. I always thought two kids, and DH thought five or six, but three seems to be just right - at least for now. The idea of adopting an older, waiting child sometime down the road still keeps floating around in my head. For right now, 2 two-year-olds keeps us hopping!

I grew up 1 of 3 and always dreamed of a large family. My husband was the oldest of 6. After meeting him we both talked about having 6 kids and we wanted them real close together. After having 2 we decided 5 was a better number for us. After this adoption we will have 5 and all under the age of 7. Exactly what we wanted. However there is that small part of me that would love to adopted 1 more, an older one and much further down the line. Who knows what God has in store for us.

I'm like Carlee1boy - an only child. Like her, I always said I would never just have one child. Juliana is our third child, and I think we're done. Three keeps us hopping, but in a good way.

I grew up with one sibling (older brother) but always new I wanted a larger family from when I was a small child. My mother said I would draw pictures of my future family and I would have several children in the picture. My dad was one of ten children and my mom was one of seven children . I am surprised I ended up with only one sibling! r
