Hi. I was just wondering if anyone could tell us how much the Birth Mother will know about us. Do they tell here anything, share pics, etc? We are just curious how much she will know, if anything at all...

I asked my facilitator that when we were picking up our son. He said that they had no information on us and the adotions there were "closed adoptions".


I found that to be a little sad....for them at least.

I was told by our agency that the social worker does show her a picture of us and then she is asked if she has ever seen us before. I was told the reason for this is to establish she does not know us but unfortunately they do not tell her about us. This is very sad. I do not think they get to see a picture of our house, yard, baby room, etc., just a picture of us.

Sol Ana's birth mom saw our dossier/homestudy photos. Was told why we wanted to adopt and what we were like as a family. She had all the basic information about us. I was told seeing the pictures meant a lot to her.

She and her family was told that we were keeping her birth name as well.

I guess it depends on who you are dealing with.

We were told that the birthmother looks at the photos in the dossier. In addition, she will see your name, address, and other info. on the documents that she signs. I met one birthmother and she spoke of the adoptive mom to her child using the first and last name of the adoptive mom (I know the adoptive mom, it was just a coincidence that I had the opportunity to spend time with the brithmom.) So I do know that they see the photos and know the names.

I was told nothing not even if the child went to the USA. Anna
