Okay, does anyone have 4 "legal" names for their child? Give some advice here...
Do you think it would be to long? I love all of Migel's names, and I'm not sure what we should make his legal name be. He was named Sergio Jehovany at birth..
I guess in my head I'm just thinking about the Name Affidavit we had to do, and for legal reasons I don't want to make anything confusing, though, regardless of what we decide to change his name to, will he always have to say he is also known as Sergio Jehovany Underbakke since that is what is on his birth certificit? Why yes, yes I do obsess and analize over everything, so just give me your input and thoughts! Either: Migel Sergio Jehovany Underakke Sergio Migel Jehovany Underbakke Sergio Migel Underbakke Migel Sergio Underbakke Migel Jehovany Underbakke

Olivia has two middle names. Her first is her original middle name which also happens to be her birth moms middle name and the second is my middle name, so she has a part of each of her moms. It may be a little confusing but so worth it.

Go for it. I have four names because I was unwilling to give any up when I got married. The government was fine with it, I just have to explain it to everyone else on the face of the earth!

From the stand point of an adult who lives with too many names. I have 4 names plus 2 last names. American forms are just not set up for it. I use one for a first name and one for a middle name and only one last name. I am actually glad our babies came with one name and we added one. My other two Guatemalan children have three names and they always strugle with filling out forms too. I would suggest no more then 3 names. Anna

I like Sergio Migel Jehovany Underbakke.
Both of our daughters have two middle names. Amanda Marie Isabelle Last Dylan Mackenzie Katherynne Last The names are a part of our choices and their birth names. Our last name is one syllable and four letters so it sounds good with their names.

We are going to use 4 names as well. It makes it a little long, but for us, we wanted to include both our and his birth family names. All of your choices are great, by the way.

I hyphenated my daughter's name, but both her middle names are short. I did this so that she can always use both names when she writes out her middle name.
Her name is Alexa Kay-Ann H.

We will be keeping Gabriella's entire birth name as her middle name, so she will have four names.

My daughter has 2 middle names, my grandmother's name and her birthmother's maternal name. So far, when filling out forms allowing for only one middle name or initial, we use her first middle name, my grandmother's, because it is easier to say for all concerned. However, she will always legally have 4 names, a connection to her birthmother and her adoptive family. I think it's nice. And from the looks of this forum, the U.S. government may soon have to revise the way forms are written to include the use of more than three names!

My BIL is Guatemalan and has 4 names as is their tradition (first-middle-mothers maiden-father surname). When he and my sister were talking about naming their children he has been quite adamant that he will NOT give his child 4 names as he always hated filling out forms growing up and still does now. So take that for what it's worth!
