So Sad
I want to let you all know how many e-mails I have received from forum members telling me they are no longer posting on the forum because of the Non-Traditional family forum being closed. You would be shocked to know who these forum members are. They are the same people who help each of you out each week and answer the questions you have. It is not right and I implore you to stand up for human rights and the first amendment on this forum or any other forum. I am truly sad and emabarrased to have to even post this.\
Kelly Migoya Mom to three beautiful children formed through a non-traditional family, happily married, Christian and friend and family to any of you who value human rights and who believe that race, gender, religion and sexual orientation have nothing to do with your ability to parent! |

It does seem very strange to me that this happened. I admit, I have not been a contributor to that part of the forum (in fact, I have never left here), but I have read a great deal since it happened. I have to assume that something in particular was troubling, but we have those problems on here and they set forum rules and the people that don't follow them get a "break" or something. This seems very strange to me, especially on a website that seems to cover every topic from some that are innocuous to some very extreme. I am really sorry for the people who were supported by this, whether I know them from here or not.

So sad, too
I was shocked to read that the non-traditional families forum has been removed. I think that "the powers that be" must have read only the "non-traditional" and forgotten the "FAMILIES"! I happen to be neither gay nor an adoptive parent (yet), but personally, it brings tears of joy to my eyes every time a child finds a forever family- regardless of the new parent's sexual orientation! Children need parents who will love them and will keep them safe. Anyone who can provide that for a child has my vote. I am very sad to see that others don't feel the same way.

As a Lesbian and adoptive Mother I can't even begin to tell you how much the support on this board means. I stayed in the closet here out of fear (anyone who subscribes to the Big List will understand why). It really is wonderful and heartwarming to see the support from my fellow forum friends. I am staying here for only one reason at this point..to see the words posted by Suzanne saying "WE'RE OUT"

I just didn't realize that this forum was only for traditional families, and GOSH I didn't even realize there were that many of them left these days!
This forum is supposed to offer parenting support. PERIOD. I don't know why a political statement had to be made in removing the "non-traditional" portion of the forum. Regardless of our own personal opinions about such things, I think we can (SHOULD) all agree that this is a violation and we should all raise up and support each and every member of this forum for our KIDS sake!!!
