Can people give me some input on the Clarion??

A visit trip will be months away for us still since we don't even have a referral but I wanted to ask about this. My DH is a cop and the Comfort Inn hires in the cops at his department to do security sometimes. SO because of that...he in a way is an employee of Choice Hotels...which includes the Clarion, therefore we get employee rates. We called them and they said we could stay at the Clarion in Guat City for 50% off which is a good deal. I was disappointed that they didn't have a pool since we can't leave the hotel. Our agency recommends the Marriot so I have to ask...what are your opinions of the Clarion? Nice? Not nice? Would it be worth it to spend the extra money and stay somewhere else when we go down? Your opinions would be greatly appreciated!
Hugs,

We stayed at the Marriot for visit and the Clarion for P/U-- dictated by the agency. The Clarion was cleaner, the rooms nicer-- all suite set-up so you have a seperate BR. The downside is their lack of grounds. We never used the pool at the Marriot but it was great to wonder around outside and through the lobby. If our agency had not had a family room (everyone got a key and it was fully stocked with toys, books, food, etc and families could hang out there when tired of their own room) I think I might have gone crazy at the Clarion. If you stay at the Marriot remember to wear your flip flops-- first time I've ever had black feet bottoms at a hotel!

I think I must have used the same agency as saranbr. I loved the Clarion, the rooms were clean, excellent breakfast buffet included, internet available, and a very friendly staff. We felt safe and comfortable all of the time. But yes there is no pool so there is not a lot of wandering to do. Luckily our agency had a hospitality suite which was a set of rooms fully stocked with anything you could think of. Movies, food, pop, water, diapers, formula... you name it. So we did spend some of our time there which was great. Otherwise we put Olivia in the stroller and walked around in the lobby, just to see outside. Also the second floor has a balcony area with seating and we even wandered to the 17th floor, the gym, just to get a better view of the skyline.

I second saranbr's input. If you are on your own I would go some where there is a baby lounce and grounds. The lobby is a drafty smokers hall at the Clarion. Also if you do stay there besure to bring lots of burb rags as they are bit stingy with wash clothes. The cribs are cute, rooms very nice, we liked the food (has breakfast buffet),and staff great. For an extra $10 a night you can get a microwave int he room. There are no baby baths with the hotel. Anna

We actually ended up staying at the Clarion for pick up, not planned and really loved it. The room was more spacious than the Marriott, but there was more to do at the Marriott since you cannot leave the hotel. There is a pharmacy and grocery store across the street from both, so your dh can get supplies. Good luck and have fun.
