Talking Spring Beginners - Week of April 3!!!!

Hello spring beginners-

This is our weekly thread for those people who are starting the adoption process during the spring time. Any body is welcome to join

Where is everybody? We are waiting for DH's doctors letter which has been redone 3 times now. Also waiting for our last witness statement which should be completed today.

Otherwise, our long wait will be for our homestudy and INS approval. We are hoping to have a draft of our homestudy to our agency next week. I can't wait to see our newest addition!

How about you all? Where are you in the process. I can't wait to "hear" where you all are in the process

Hi,
I was hoping that we would get our USCIS fingerprint appointment today in the mail but we didn't We are pretty much done with all our paper work, I'm going to get it all notarized tomorrow. We had our state fingerprint clearances returned un-notarized so we need those redone, I expect them by the end of the week. Our HS will be done I hope by next week so then I can get everything certified and authenticated. I was really expecting to be done by now, but oh well. It looks like our HS will be done before we are even fingerprinted. I really want to get this done since our wait will b like 8 weeks!!! I hate the waiting but can't wait to be done with all this paper work!!

Here I go

We mailed the I-600A today, and have our first meeting with our social worker tomorrow morning. I am a bit overwhelmed right now, I was not expecting to start this yet, but wanted to before anything bad came up. I am so excited...

Just had our new updated homestudy today!! We should get it back in the next 2 weeks (I hope). We were told that we have to wait to turn in our I600A for when we get our HS back as KS does everything at once. After that, we get EVERYTHING authenticated. yeay... Cannot wait for this paperchase to be done. I want to see a picture of my new baby!! (Not the most patient of bunnies, here!!)

Us too!! Kansas City office in Missouri requires everything at one time. So, we're waiting on the SW papers to arrive this week. My first round of WAITING ---- not doing to good with it. It's a good thing the mail only comes once a day or I'd be out there all day long!!!

BUT, she said HS should only take 1 month and only 2-3 weeks for I600A. AND we'll be doing our dossier at the same time so hopefully things will pick up pace.

I can't wait to be able to put something on my timeline!!!

Homestudy started

We just finished with our first HS appointment. I don't know what I was so worried about. We have our second meeting tomorrow and our SW comes to our house on Thursday.

I also have all of the paperchasing done and notarized. Our agency is checking everything out before we go any further. Unfortunately, it looks like we might have to have our medical reports redone. They were the hardest to get. I guess I would rather redo them now than later.

Wow, it sounds like everyone is busy with paperwork! Here's where we are:
1)All paperwork is at homestudy agency except medicals and fingerprints (local), waiting for first appt. to be scheduled (hopefully they'll call within the week)
2)Adoption agency recieved contracts and we should recieve dossier requirements today
3)Birth and marriage certs. have been ordered
4)Passports will be done this week

We basically just started this process about a week ago so I'm hoping to have almost everything done by the end of April. Then we can send our HS to USCIS and wait for our appt. which I'm hoping will be done quickly. Ideally I'd like to be completely paper ready by mid-May. Our agency has a long waiting list so I'd like to get on it as soon as possible.

Blessings,

Well -we finally started today!!!
I sent in the application and agency fee. I plan to send out the I 600a tomorrow. I also made appointments for all of us at the doctor (I am hoping to get those medicals right the first time this time around), but I guess we will have to wait and see.
I am really excited!!!! I can not believe that I am doing this all again and so soon..
I am going to be racing through the paperchase! I hope we all get through this and get our referrals soon!

Hi everybody,

I'm mailing my I600A and application packet to the homestudy agency tomorrow. I took the day off work today to go to the dentist and get paperwork done, but had a frustrating day because nobody called me back to answer my questions! Things are going along fine, I just want them to go faster (sigh).

Glad to hear everybody's making progress!

We just had our 1st meeting w/ SW for HS last weekend, and the last meeting is scheduled for this weekend. I just mailed the I-600A today. We should be receiving our list of documents to get for the dossier, tom. I have heard that the wait (for IL) for our state background check to be done is 5 MONTHS... can you belive that?? So, we might be waiting a while for that

We are contacting our agency about getting our homestudy update this week. Then off to the paperchase. At least it should be easier the second time around.

We mailed in our I600A last week and recieved reciept for payment of fees. no date to be finger Printed yet for USCIS.

mostly great

Everything is going along smoothly except for my birth certificate snag (see my other post for details...)

I'm sad that I need to deal with overseas agencies in order to get my birth cert. authenticated, so I feel a total loss of control. Things here are so much more predictable.

Oh well. At the worst, I'm planning a trip to visit my dad in Colombia in June and I'll just deal with the nightmare paperchase by myself.

Good luck everyone.

I'm busy with the paper work both for the homestudy & dossier. My physical is the 12th, I switched doctors so I will only have to drag a notary to one office. DH had his this winter. I will give them the info for the letter of health while I'm there. My DH is out of town till mid May so I'm not sure if the SW will start with me or wait for his return. It may add some time here, but then so will the fingerprints most likely since he will only be home for 6 weeks and we all know with "ole Murphy" that the app. won't fit in the convienient time frame. I guess it just gives me extra time to work on paper work and funds.
