Question Bathtub issues

We still use the baby bathtub for Guapo but he is now spending pretty much all of bathtime trying to climb out of it. He wants to pull up on the side of the tub too and I'm scared he's going to wipe out. I'm wondering if we should buy a bigger tub for him or transition him to the regular tub with one of those big sponges for him to sit on. When and how did you transition your babies? Guapo is nine months old and this is the tub we have him in now. Total aside: where do they get off charging so dang much for a plastic bathtub?

Guapo is so dang cute! I am using the Primo Eurotub for DD and it claims it "grows with the baby". It has 2 sides, one for when they can't sit upright (DD still uses this side although she CAN sit upright...lazy little thing) and the other side for sitting up. There is a plastic thingy in the middle to keep them from tumbling over. I hope she can use this until she is 2 years old. I bet the sponges would work, but I haven't used them.

We use one of those bathtub seats by Safety 1st and Gavin LOVES LOVES LOVES IT!

He's almost 9 months old, too, btw and we've used it since he came home (he could sit up since then)

He plays and splashes around and we have had no problems with it!

Here's a picture so you can see what it looks like in use!

I always used the sponge things for my kiddos and never bothered with a baby tub. When they were small I used the one where they would lay down, but as they got bigger I switched to the one that they just sit on. Both of mine did great and we never had any issues with falling or bumping. Just make sure you have some non-skid things in the bottom of the tub for when he does stand up and I also used something to cover where the water comes out.

Both of mine now shower which is soooo much better on ole Mom's back!

We also have used the ring that they sit in for the tub. They loved it and I loved it too. It gives them a little freedom and you don't have to worry...too much...about them tumbling over.

Good luck!

We brought William home at 7mos and within a couple of weeks he was in a bath chair and loving it. Now he is 14mos and sits on one of those sponge thingys, but he often roams off. I would suggest the bath chair at this point. Good luck, he sure is such a cutie!

What about those thingys that fit over the side of the tub - they are foam or some kind of cushion and have a pocket for all their toys, soap, etc. Okay, this is something my friend had years ago - the child is now 23!!!

But do they still have anything like that?

Thinking that would cushion any tumbles. Then again, something like that might encourage him to stand up.

Hmmm...guess I'd go with the chair, too.

Janna has been using our regular tub since she came home at 7 months. Of course, my hands are right there always ready in case she falls over, but she has a great time and it's never been a problem. I have 9 children and I used the big tub from newborn on with the last 7. It works ok. Guapo is too cute!!

Since to save time and energy I bathe my two together, my youngest has been in the big bathtub since she came home. I looked everywhere for one of the bathseats and decided they must not make them anymore (but guess I just wasn't looking in the right place lol) so she just sits in the big tub with big sister. It was hard on my back for a couple months when she was just learning to sit up and I couldn't let go of her at all but now I can just sit back and let them play with no troubles. I haven't had too much trouble with her standing up in the tub...but she is usually last in and first out so she doesn't get the chance, much to her dismay!

I second this idea. I used them with all of my older kids and they loved it...so easy and they have the freedom to play that they like.

Guapo is tooo Guapo for his tub!

We used an inflatable baby size bath that fit into the regular tub. That way if you little guy wipes out he falls againts a cushioned blow up tub, not the hard bathtub. It was also slip resistant for when he refussed to sit down!! I got it at Babies R Us for like $12. (He liked it so much we even used on in the swimming pool!)

I started using the big tub when my daughter was about 9 months old. She could sit up with no assistance so I wasn't worried about tumbling and I used just a few inches of water. From the first bath on I praised her several times a bath for staying on her bottom and would remind her to "stay on your bottom" and gently sit her down if she started to get on her knees.

She rarely tries to get up now and if she tries more than three times I just take her out of the tub (once in awhile she is just too busy to sit!) and bath is over. I continue to make sure she knows what a good job she is doing while she takes a bath...so far it's working!
