Fall Beginners, Week of April 3, 2006...

at the blessing of curlyqgyrl, I am initiating her thread this week, as she begins her new journey with Migel...

So, even though I really started in spring of 2005, I consider myself a fall beginner with our referral in September. I offered to start the thread this week, and I am so excited to hear from all of you! What projects are you all working on? What are you doing to get ready for the homecoming?

I love to decorate and paint. I love to be outside. Occasionally I get time to cross-stitch.

After reviewing alot of previous threads, it's obvious that last week was totally amazing as there was a TON of fabulous news from all parts of the process.

Chime in and let's hope for a fantastic week!

Hi, everyone!

Thanks, Diane, for picking up our thread this week! I am so happy for Erin and wish her all the best this week and forever with Migel (lil' osito!)

We are still awaiting our DNA results. It's been a tough week for us. I am really feeling the weight of the wait. I try very hard to be positive but it is not always easy. I pray for DNA results this week and on to the pre-approval waiters list.

I am so thrilled for all who received wonderful news this week and of course hope it keeps rolling in! I am ready to have our babies start to come home! Let's let Migel be the start!!

Megan: you will receive your results SOON. Probably this week. It can be anywhere from 10-14 business days.

JAFP - congrats!!! DNA is huge and what a cool thing you have now to look forward to a visit trip. It's awesome.

I look forward to getting off the PGN Waiter's list one of these days. Although this weekend was initially pretty yucky, I managed to salvage a bit of it. Now the sun is shining!!!

DH and I are just started to go crib shopping, decide for sure which room will be the baby's room and what we will do with the stuff currently in it. We have a long way to go with selecting a decor, shopping and childproofing. Hopefully that work will keep me occupied during our wait.

One mystery was solved for me this week. I had always wondered how the US embassy in Guat gets you email address to send you email notifications. Well, I got a call from them Friday asking for my email address. they said normally the Atty provides it, but ours did not, so they called me for mine. I think the DNA was done last week along with the FC interview, but am not 100% sure. I did confirm with the embassy that we had DNA authorization.

Erin, I am excited for you. Post pictures soon.

Megan, I am with you on the difficulty of the wait.

JAFP - congrats on DNA

Diane, good luck with PGN...hurry up and get out to make room for me...

Thanks for taking over Diane!

And I'm wishing "osito" and his papa a quick & safe trip home!

I've had a crazy week. One of my cats passed away. He was our little baby! .. We are very heart broken and I spent many days crying over that little guy - I'm sure going to miss him. .. When we adopted him, we found out he had a heart defect and could go at anytime, we wanted to give him the best home possible. The good thing was that he didn't suffer. He was playing and then his poor little heart just failed. ..

Then I'm having some problems with my agency.. I getting so frustrated!.. I emailed and emailed last week and it took them 6 days to get back to me. I ended up practically demanding for them to get me an update on our little girl. The director emailed me on Friday to let me know that she called the attorney and found out that DNA and Family court was done
But she didn't give me more info... that's it... No info on when any of this happened.

This was great to hear, but I'm frustrated that they didn't let me know.. and the only way I found this out is because I practically demanded that they find out what is going on. .. I emailed back and asked when this happened, how do I find out DNA results, if we are in PGN yet, etc etc (I'm still learning how this all works)

She emailed back and all she said was "you are waiting for preapproval" - agh... I still don't understand what is going on!

blah

Anyways, I worked on the baby room this weekend. I didn't know how we were going to fit 2 cribs - it's a very small room. We not only got both of them to fit but we got them to fit side by side

We weren't expecting to bring home a boy and the baby room is currently very "princess" - so I've got some changing to do!

Good Luck to Everybody this week!!

EJ - momtobe: Here at the Hotel California, oops - PGN they are programmed to receive. So, even if I'm still in, there's "plenty of room"!

Myrna: You'll have to let us know what theme/color you chose for a unisex nursery. I can't wait to see the pictures. Good luck with your agency. It's just hard when you really want to know that the babies are ok.

All else - keep in touch!

Hi all. I'll start by thanking Diane for starting the thread.

I've been sitting on some news for over a week, and wasn't going to say anything, except that I feel this is the place to do so.
My husband and I have informally accepted a referral of a beautiful baby boy born on 3/2. He was taken into foster care on the 24th, and we were given more info and pics on the 27th. He has yet to go to the doctor - tomorrow - and when we receive his medical information, we will make our official decision. (Our agency didn't want us to officially accept til the medical was done.)
We will hopefully receive new pics, since he's a month old today. I already feel he's meant to be ours, we're preparing the POA, but I am being cautiously optimistic. I've been really good about not staring at his picture too often!

So, if anyone could send good wishes/prayers that he has a good medical checkup, I'd appreciate it.

I'll say a prayer for those waiting for DNA and who are elsewhere in the process!

-Priscilla

Thanks so much Diane for being the Fall Beginners "hostess"!!!
I am BEYOND happy that I am a retiree

At about 3:00 tuesday Meeah and I will be leaving to go get our boys!!! Their plane gets in at 5:05
All is still well with them. Somehow they need to get to the embassy at 3 tomoorow for the Visa, then to the Marriott to pre check in and buy a lap ticket, then back to the Holiday Inn. Our sw said that She might get them, or Jose or Freddie might, or nobody might . Sooo Adam just said if noone is here by 3, I'm taking a cab. He said he knows 100% what he is doing... So I just pray that I get an email from him by 5 tomorrow saying they are packing up and all is well with Visa in hand..

He emailed me pictures, but they are a wierd format and I can't resize them... so take my word for it, Migel is soooo freaken CUTE!!!!

BTW, Does anyone else hate daylight savings time?? It looks like its noon out there and I'm suppose to get Meeah to go nigh night?????

Diane, thank you for picking up the thread this week. I've been feeling a little lost on here while waiting for a referral. Week after week with no news was getting to me. Now that I have a precious little face to look at I'm feeling much better.
We were told we could go down there right away to sign the POA. I'm sure we would get to meet her but we have mixed feelings about it. Anyone have thoughts to share about doing that? The pros and cons.

Diane and amylynn3, Hope you're released from pgn jail soon.
Erin, I can't imagine how excited you must be knowing Migel is almost home. Looking forward to seeing pictures.
Megan, JAFP and ej, Hope you don't have to wait much longer to hear about DNA.
MYRNA, Sorry to hear about your cat. It's hard to lose those little fur babies. Sorry you're having such problems with your agency. That is so wrong of them.
Priscilla, CONGRATULATIONS!!! I think we were the last two on the fall beginners waiting for referrals.

Well wishes for everyone.

Well, I hope everyone has a great week this week! Lots of good news....c'mon!!!!

Our case has hit a standstill...actually it's been at a standstill for quite some time! We've been waiting for preapproval from the embassy since Jan. 25th! We found out on Thur, March 30th that the embassy is now issuing an I72 because our birthGRANDfather needs to sign off on the paperwork! I pray this will happen quickly and we'll get preapproval and go into PGN. Please say a prayer for us! When we first started this process, my fear was we'd end up having problems and waiting months and months to bring our little girl home! I really don't want that to happen! I encourage everyone to BE PROACTIVE on your cases!

Take care everyone! Let's all have a good week!
J
I thank you too Diane!

Chica_latina - I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. I have 2 cats and can't imagine the day they pass away.

Curlygirl - congrats!! I can't wait to see pictures!

Everyone else - keep hoping and praying for good news!!

We are now awaiting DNA. I don't know how long that is supposed to take, but hopefully it will happen some time this month. We were slow getting the I-171H, but finally got it March 24, so I"m hoping for DNA soon!
I'm a little nervous to start preparing too much before DNA. I have bought a few outfits, but that's it. Anyway, everyone have a great week!
Cheers,
Ani

Hello All!

Thanks to Diane for picking this up
Our POA/Dossier got to Guatemala last week. We are awaiting DNA authorization. Our agency tells us that it should be in less than 10 days. I can only hope they are right!

Priscella, congrats. I had been waiting on you and Kathy and I think you are both on your way! Let us know when you get the med. report!

Everyone else, I will be reading and trying to stay optimistic!

We have decided to visit, so come on DNA! We cannot go until DNA is done. We hope to go for 3 or 4 days in May.

Talk soon
