Any Westin Suggestions??

The Marriott was booked for our pick up trip this weekend. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions or tips for staying at the Westin....

Thanks,
Megan

See if you can get on the family floor. It's comfortable and has a small lounge. They also give you some extras for the baby, like a bathtub.

We loved the buffet and the restaurant will make up big cups of coffee for you anytime for you to take to your room. Try their black bean soup and lemonade with soda.

The concierge is really nice and will help translate. She sat with our FM and us for a good half hour and was wonderful.

Have fun! We stayed there twice and loved it.

We stayed at the Westin for both our visit trip (which was 2 weeks) and our pick up (about a week) and loved it there. We were on the family floor, it does have a small lounge area where we were able to meet other parents. The breakfast buffet was amazing and we could not have been happier.

The staff was amazing as well, they are all so very nice and make sure you are comfertable.

Have a wonderful trip!

We loved the pool - much nicer than the Mariott one and much better service. Food selection and quality at the poolside was also very good - enjoy!!

Call the concierge before you get there to hold a stroller for you. That really helped us out alot. Also, we love the italian restaurant there...make sure you get a chance to have a meal there. We loved staying there(3x's) but hated having to walk up and down steps to the pool....

ditto hating walking up the steps to the pool!
i was by myself and just kind of went to the door where you CAN get to the pool.
usually they let me out there! but i had a pitiful 'help..' look!

there is this one meal or appentizer that had a pita and some kind of beans. it was so good i had it on my visit and pu!

the burger is VERY good, but get it well done, or else it comes, ummm, almost still alive! LOL!

do NOT order diet cokes! they are SUPER expensive!
brandydawn, how much did we figure? like THREE dollars a glass!
wine is cheaper!!

there are also these ladies in the front of the westin who sell these really neat wall hangings!

you HAVE to go out and get one!

the business center is nice too!
i sent an email every day back home.

i dont have anything to compare it with, but,
im pretty hard on hotels etc, and i was really happy at the westin.
maybe because i was with my little daughter!
but, still, i think id notice if it was really 'off'...

have a great trip!
and
dont worry!
i think knowing youll be with your little one youd be willing to stay in a tent! i know that's how i felt!

If you can afford it the corner suite is great. We stayed in it for 8 nights. It has a separate bedroom with a full bath, a living room with a full bath off of it, etc. It is great to have the separate rooms when the little one(s) are sleeping.

The pool is great, we loved the cafe, the restaurant with the buffet has a great breakfast, etc.

The hotel has a business center that has affordable Internet access if you don't bring your own wireless computer.

Have fun.

Cris,

Actually think the Diet Cokes calculated out to more like $5 or $6 a bottle!

We actually had no issues with the iced tea, coffee or water they brought with room service. Just avoided the tap water. We ate the fresh fruit as well.

The bottled water in the room wasn't too expensive, drink that!

Agree the pool is fabulous, set yourself up on a lounger and stay their all day!

Highly recommend you have room service for the meals you don't eat by the pool....much easier when you are getting used to a baby. Depending on how big of an eater you are, we split every dish because there was so much food.

Eat the local dishes, the black beans are wonderful! I even bought a cookbook and learned how to make them when I got home.

Seafood buffet is okay, not really worth the price.

Loved the Westin...if you can't get into the family section, be sure they give you access so you can get into the family room and meet other parents...that is the best part.

Regards,
Brandy

There is a pharmacy down the street. If you are there a few days you can go down there and get sodas as that is what we did to cut the cost of the diet cokes

Yes. We just used the minifridge on all of our trips an we never had anything said to us. I second either ordering in from the pharmacy or having someone go out and stock up on soda and bottled water. The mall is fun to look around in too.

The food can get expensive, but you can order in Dominoe's or McDonalds.

We really like the Westin. However, if you put cokes or other drinks in the fridge in the Family Room, make sure you label them clearly. My husband kept having his taken from the fridge.

The Italian restaurant is wonderful. It was closed the Sat. night we were there though. The pool and exercise room are also very nice.

The bottles of water in our room were complimentary.

We just kept a few on ice using the ice bucket in the room so there would be no chance that we would be charged for the items that the hotel placed in the room.

I'm sitting in the Westin as I type! I like it a lot, it's really pretty and they've been very helpful so far. We just got here last night so I can't report much on the food. But look for us when you're down here, we're on the kids floor. We should have the 2 month old girl with us but probably not the 14 month old. My husband and I are both short (I'm 5ft, he's 5ft4) so we should be easy to pick out! We're here until April 4.
