Age appropriate adoption book
Can anyone please refer me to a book or books that I can give to my 4 year old (bio) son's preschool which tells about adoption and also will be good for our 2 year old Guatemalan son when he comes home?

Waiting on bc!!! 5/18/06 - BC obtained!!! FINALLY!!!!! 5/18/06 - Submitted for pink 5/24/06 - PINK  5/28/06 - leaving to get our peanut!!! 5/31/06- Embassy Appointment 6/3/06- Home Forever!

The Barkers series by Tomie dePaola is also good... "A New Barker in the House" is about adoption with older sibings in the home. Good question!

We love Over the Moon by Karen Katz and Little Miss Spider by David Kirk. Wrong season but Little Miss Spider's A Christmas Wish is about adopting a sibling as well. All of them are big hits with my 3 1/2 year old!

One of my favorite books is "How I was Adopted", by Maxie Chambliss. It's a great book and is told by the little girl in the book who is adopted. I think its a great book for anyone, because it also talks about things she had when she was born (eye color, hair, being a girl, etc) and then things she has because of being in her family (things she can do, talks, laughs). The only caution for a preschool class is that the book talks about how babies are in a women's uterus and how she didn't grow in her mothers uterus, but in another womens uterus. That may bring some questions that you many not want to answer. I LOVE the book, but I don't mind answering questions from my own child!
