Do you ever feel like it's not fair???

I know I shouldn't compare timelines, but I do. It feels so unfair when others timelines are really fast or even normal when my process feels like it's dragging. I know our timeline isn't exceptionally awful; I am just so anxious to have Isabel home. I hate not knowing when I will see her again.

Oh - I am very happy for all those that have speedy timelines!

Love, Shelly

See the post I just posted! I am with you. It's not that I want others to be slow, I just want to be faster! It is great to have support here, but it can be hard to see other's timelines.
I hope things start moving for you (and me)!

I just posted to someone else about the same thing. Try not to compare timelines...it will truly make you nuts. No this process is not "fair." I personally think this process really stinks sometimes...but it does work and it will happen...in its own time. Keep busy and hang in there. Your child will come home!!!

I just noticed we have exact same dates for visits in November. Were you at the Marriott by chance? We're going again next week since this is dragging out so long.

I'm only at the very beginning, but I'm right there with you. I get so frustrated when I see some states take 2 weeks to get their I171H and know that Detroit is saying they take 90 days! I'm with you in that I'm glad for the others who are so quick, I just wish ours could be quicker!!!

Hang in there!

Shelly, NO it isn't fair. You're right, It is very difficult to not compare timelines. But even then, I think most of us realize that each case is different and has it's own circumstances to overcome. However, it's only natural to wonder why one family can get PA in two weeks and another has to wait 5 weeks. Or, one family can be in and out of PGN in one month and others linger for months w/ no news... I do it all the time. Although, I am VERY happy for those families who are breezing right through, but when will it be our turn? We'll keep praying that it happens for us too and we will bring our babies home very soon!!

Angie

I think your feelings are pretty normal and that waiting is hard when we are waiting to be with a child that we love so much.

I think in the US especially, except with CIS!, we are mostly used to equitable treatment. Ie, you get in line and get served in the order you line up. Or, we submit our tax returns via efile and we expect that we will get the direct deposit in 2-3 weeks just like it says on the website. We are not used to feeling like people take our files, throw them in the air and then some people get out, others get randomly investigated and others get a previo just for the heck of it.

It makes me grateful to be where I am. I am also very grateful to have had the privilege to adopt from Guatemala. I love many things about the country, the randomness of many of these steps is not one of them.

Hang in there,

I can't seem to follow my own advice to take a break from the boards, or to stop comparing timelines. I'm doing okay right now because we've only been in PGN for 12 days -- but give me another week or so and I'll be whining/griping/worrying all over again, wondering why aren't we OUT yet??!

But yes, it does seem so unfair. Sometimes I'm on the "good" end of unfair -- e.g., when a lady with my agency started the process at the same time and in the same city, but her I171-H didn't come until a month after ours. Other times I'm on the "bad" end of unfair, like when I see people zip right through FC in a few weeks while we we're stuck there for 2 months! It seems like there's always an imbalance somewhere along the timelines.

I just have to keep reminding myself that everyone who's home with their child(ren) was once in my same situation, and that it WILL happen for me (and you!), too!

It's not fair!! While I am so happy for others it is very hard to watch people who received referrals after you who are already home with their babies. I wish all of our processes/timelines were as quick as some are lucky enough to have!!

Angry Yes!!!

Ironically, I think of the things that have happened to me and at the time, they didn't seem fair...but in the end, I ended up better than I would have ever prayed!

This said, no, it isn't fair...but I think of my little Flora...smiling and growing for her foster family, not us.

Here's hoping that we got dna authorization today!

I keep trying to tell myself that there is a reason for everything and our daughter will come home when she is supposed to.... much harder to listen to some days than other days. I too, am constantly comparing timelines. I hope your daughter is home REAL soon!!!
