I came across this in one of my magazines and thought it was pretty good (and funny).

When asked by someone "Is that your real child?" a suggested answer was: "Yes, I'm a real parent raising a real child."

I haven't been asked anything yet but I thought that was a pretty concise answer!

i can think of others, but none that would be nice to say in front of a child (but really satisfying to say!)

We got asked that, and I tried "No. He's imaginary... I'm surprised you can see him" and she didn't even laugh.

LOL at "no he's imaginary..." that's great.

Kinda sad that we have to even prepare for such comments. I just thought back about the interview with Sharon Stone when she commented on the description of her son as "adopted" when in every other case a child isn't described too often as "biological" before anything else. I'm paraphrasing but some of you will remember.

My stepdad is my "Dad", KWIM? Anyway when I was younger I would ask if he was my "real dad", his response was: Am I real? Am I your Dad? Both answers were always yes, so I guess he is my "real dad".

I haven't had anyone ask me if Anderson was our real son yet but my SIL did refer to his birthmother as his "real mother". I was surprised by my own reaction. I really didn't know what to say, so just smiled and she asked what I was smiling about and I told her that she was the first person who had referred to his birthmother as his real mother. She was actually offended by me saying that.
