I am really scared...
With the possiblity of adoptions closing in Gaut. I need some information:
Since we are in a PGN investigation, which could last a very long time, what happens to our case? Secondly, if our adoption of Gabby falls through due to the investigation but this does not happen for a couple of months, then will we be able to get a new referral or do we lose our money towards a Guatemala adoption? What would you do if you were us? Could we walk away with nothing in the end? Jennifer

I second calling your agency. I'm not sure what type of PGN investigation you're referring to. In most cases, I believe that any time there is a major change in a program, cases already in progress are "grandfathered" in under the old guidelines, so I wouldn't think you'd have to start over. I hope everything works out - keep us posted!

Hey Jennifer, I'm right there with you. I've been following this like a hawk and I am scared to death. Talk NOW with your agency about the "what ifs". You need to get things squared away now before it comes down to it. My understanding is that as long as you are in process (as you are with Gabbie) you should be fine. But get those nitty-gritty details ironed out NOW.

Of course, in your situation, you are going to worry about every thing. I don't blame you one bit. However, to encourage you, from reading the info about these changes, they aren't even slated to occur next year, not even 100% sure what that will mean for adoptions and I would hope that it wouldn't affect adoptions well in progress. I would think you are going to be ok (with this particular situation). But again, I completely empathize with you worrying about these things. Everything that can has gone wrong for you- but its time for something good, right??!! I don't know- I wouldn't add this to your worry list.

I just wanted to say good luck Jennifer. I know you have been through a lot, and I can understand why you are scared.
I don't know what I would do, and my guess is that most agencies aren't going to have a clue yet. If the US and Guatemala don't know exactly how things will happen, how will your agency????

I believe you will bring home Gabbie in my heart. I pray for you and your family. I would talk to your agency to gain some insight. However, since you are completely paper ready if for some reason you had to accept a new referral you would be able to do POA probably fairly quickly and as long as that is before January it sounds like you should be ok. Hang in there and know we are all rooting for you and Gabbie to be together again soon!
Hugs, D

My agency said that at this point there are just rumors. She also said adoptions that are in progress will be unaffected by any of this, so you should be safe.

So sorry you have to add another worry to your list. I hope your situation is resolved long before this comes into play.

I am sure your baby will be home before 2007 when the problems may start. If you are still in the process or start the process again your case will most likely be grandfathered in and be uneffected. We don't even know at this point if this will effect future adoptions at all.
I pray you will have the peace that passes understanding, be assured that God is in control, and that you will have your little one home in record time. Lisa |

I'm just sick that you and the other platinum clubbers now have this added worry. Please know how much we're thinking about you and hoping that the Hague is a moot issue for you because your child will be home before then!
