I am going to prepare the invites for my shower...my sister and SIL are planning it but i need a project...

How did you word your invites or what did you do to make them special/standout.

i design Radio advertising packages so I should be good at this right? Atleast that is what I keep telling myself lol.

right now I was think about an invite with two flags the Guatemala Flag and the USA Flag?

Any help would be wonderful

Well, I didn't do the invites for my upcoming shower, but the friend who did used my nursery colors with some cute ribbon. Bright Pink paper, with a pink/green polka dot ribbon at the top - very cute! I don't have another or I'd post a picture for you!

The wording was pretty simple - just the normal "You're invited to a shower for ...." so nothing fancy. Can't help there.

I'd say go with what suits you - the flag idea sounds cool!

My friends came up with a cute insert..."famous adopted men" and then listed several (Moses, Julius Ceaser....James David McNay was the last on the list). I thought it was cute and clever.

My sister is doing the invites for our upcoming shower. She put his pic on the front and a bible verse, I can't remember which one right now and then on the inside she put his stats (weight height etc) Something you can't normally put on a invite. They are sooo cute. We fell in love with them.

Something that is wonderful about adoption is that you have a photo of your child. Use the theme of the nursery and then include a picture of your child.

The wording can be simple "your invited to a baby shower for <name>....."

One cool thing my friend did was take empty baby food jars and made labels withour daughter's picture and her birth information. She filled them with candy and gave them out as party favors...they were awesome.

I am such a controlling person that even with three friends planning mine, I was involved.

Be controlling!!!! My SIL and a friend planned Bryce's shower. My friend is really into entertaining and the shower was fabulous! My SIL was responsible for the invitations and let's just say that I almost cried when I saw them! They were hand written ~ yes, in this computer age ~ and very informal..ugh! I don't want to sound ungrateful, but the SIL knows that even the invitations to my kid's birthday parties are thought out and theme related.

The shower itself was very elegant. An evening sit down dinner with dozens and dozens of roses... It was awesome!

I think I read a post before that you were having Guatemalan favors , so your flag invites would be really cute!

My sister is planning my baby shower (April 23) and has decided to make it a martini theme shower because she say's "When can you throw a baby shower that the guest of honor can have a drink? When they adopt!" All my friends are so excited for it. It's just going to be girlfriends at the martini one. Then my MIL is throwing one for me with the 'older' ladies in May.

Oh and my sister ordered the book "The Three-Martini Playdate" for the favors. It's a cute book about being a mommy. Look it up.

I am planning on having whatever recent picture I have of Jake framed and displayed at the shower. I also thought of getting a little book that the guests can write notes to DH, myself and Jake.

The flag idea is definately a great idea. We went with a Guatemalan table and had a picture of the flag. Everyone thought it was neat to incorporate her culture into the shower. My MIL and mother planned the shower. They made the invitations with her picture. They also made the placemats with her picture. We had a few different lunch choices, so the menu was part of the placemat. Everyone thought they were cute.

My friend sent out a beautiful shower announcement with a quetzal bird on the front and a short, adoption poem. My shower was after my DD came home, but I know alot of people have them before.

i am thinking of doing a 2 sided invite with Guatemala on the front and USA on the back...

My sister ordered my invitations from Mandy's moon and it has a stork carrying a little Guatemalan baby boy wrapped in a Guatemalan flag. It was very cute and she even got me matching thank you notes!


And for my work shower, my friend got favor bags with a little Guatemalan baby holding US and Guatemalan flags and had his name and birthdate on them.

I do like the idea of the Martini shower though! We had mimosas at mine...very yummy!

Ok here is what I am starting with...not sure about the front wording, and I will probably change this again before I am happy with it

and the blue parts of the flag didn't appear.....grrrrr
