I just receive this email from my friend who just got back from Guatemala this week , this is very sad .

First PLEASE pray for them all !

secondly , please email me for the name of agency that allowed this to happen to this poor little boy .

I did just speak with the Mom and she said she phoned her Dr. from Guatemala as they feared he would die right there in the hotel

Hi Paula,

I just wanted to touch base with you. Juan is currently in Arnold Palmer Hospital. It was immediately apparent when we saw him that he was very ill. They literally placed him in our arms and said "we have a little problem". Juan's little problem is Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return. He needs open heart surgery, however, before we can have that done we have to clear up the massive infections and nutritional issues he has from his wonderful, loving foster mother... Guess what, his favorite food is candy! He has global developmental delays, he does not talk, walk, crawls several inches before he becomes exhausted, can not get from a sit to a stand etc..........Best case scenario we are looking at a couple of weeks in the hospital and then who knows how much rehab and therapies..

Our cardiologist tells us that this condition is easily diagnosed if not at birth than shortly after. He feels it would have been difficult to miss it as Juan's heart is beating at triple the normal rate and he is taking between sixty and seventy breaths per minute. In fact Chris and I knew he was very ill as soon as we held him, his heart was pounding, he was panting and burning with fever. He is also inconsolable but we hope this is due to the illness and the fact that the poor little guy has thrush in his mouth, through his digestive tract and his rear end. I had never seen anything like this, both his mouth and hind end are covered with open bloody sores. We are also told that we may face complications due to his age, apparently this is best taken care of prior to the six month birthday.......


Juan was so obviously ill and we had to fight for the 2 health reports we received in the months we waited for him. We feel this was a cover up and that his life was at risk so our agency ( and everyone else involved ) could profit.

We will have the rest of his diagnosis tomorrow or the day after and I will call you.....I hope things are going better on your end!

That is very, very scary. I really feel for this family, and for this poor little child!!! This is just horrific that an innocent child is suffering like this.
