Does this matter with the notary??

When you notorize a document and it says "on this_____________day___________ at...." I assumed it wanted the address. The guy that notorized my documents put "Merchants Bank" instead of the address. Does anyone know if this matters? Its the stuff I got notorized for the U.S. embassy, not guatemala...

I think the Bank name would be fine. I don't think any of my notaries wrote an address or location on the attestation clause, and they were all authenticated just fine.

When I've seen that notary form, it's always been completed with the name of the city in which the document was notarized.

Location

I do this stuff for work all of the time. They are not looking for time, they are looking for location. Generally, city and state are put in..... the U.S. side is not likely to care in the least. Guatemala paperwork, though, has to be much more exact.

I've been a notary for 21 years. We always list the State and City/County in which the document was notarized, as well as the date the person appeared and who it was that appeared. The time of day really has no bearing.

I agree--I've been a notary in Minnesota for longer than I care to think about, and we are required by law to enter the location (city/county, state) at which the document was notarized. I've never heard of entering the time of day.
