I wasn't overly impressed with this hotel. I was there in Feb and for me- it was loud and crowded and the staff seemed rushed and annoyed most of the time. I think it depends on what you like. I personally like a more relaxed, layed back environment where customer service really matters and I just didn't find this there.
The hotel room I stayed in was very small but clean and nice looking and the food was good. If you like the mall they have one attached to the hotel.

Do a search on the forum. A few weeks ago there was a longer thread about this hotel. I haven't been there, but remember reading the thread.

I was there in January and found it very nice; the service was prompt, the hotel overall was very quiet (decibel level as well as not very crowded/busy) and the suites are beautiful. It's nice to have the mall attached to the hotel as well.

We were there for our visit trip at the end of October/beginning of November. We really liked it there. The staff was so nice to us. Anything we needed, they were more than happy to help us with. The rooms were really nice and clean, and we thought it was pretty quiet. The mall wasn't that great, but it was nice having it right there in case we needed something. My husband went to the food court at the mall each day to get lunch for us, then we ate in the hotel restaurant each night for dinner. Overall, we thought it was very nice, and we plan to stay there for our pick-up trip as well.

I stayed there twice (and at the Marriott 3 times, the Westin once, and the Holiday Inn once). I really like the Grand Tikal. The pool area is the only covered one -- meaning it's great for kids day, night and even when it rains. The connected mall is wonderful if you need to pick up something you forgot. There's even a movie theatre! The only difficulty is that it's really far from things like the Embassy, so it's not as easy on a pick-up trip, but it's great for a visit trip.

We loved it!
We stayed at the Marriott for our pickup and the Grand Tikal for our visit. The Marriott, in my opinion, was very Americanized... the Grand Tikal had more of an authentic feel. In the future (for sweet pea #2) we will only stay at the Grand Tikal. If you call and tell that that you are adopting they will upgrad you to a suite. The suite was beautiful... and the mall was super helpful!
