N.C. authentication ?
Hi,
I have a document I need to have authenticated at the Guatemala consulate. It is being notarized in North Carolina. Does it then need a apostille or authentication? In Iowa I just got a state seal. I need some help with N.C. Thanks for the southern help, Michele. |

The item needs to be authenticated. Here is a link to the NC Authentications office. The form only has to be notarized and authenticated by the state. No county certification is required.
http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/authen/ NC documents are now sent to the Atlanta consulate. Good Luck, Rebecca |

Thanks Rebecca,
Do the consulates work with the states the doc. was notarized in or the state you live in? Do we send to Atlanta because the doc was notarized in N.C. or to Chicago which is where our state goes? Michele. |

Hey Michele,
From my understanding your document must go to the consulate from where the document originated. Like the document you are having notarized in NC would be considered "originated" in NC. We had to send all but one document to the Miami consulate (now Atlanta.) The other document was notarized in VA so it had to go to the DC consulate. Hope that makes sense. Rebecca |

Thanks Rebecca,
That is the exact information I was wondering. Michele. |
