I've learned not to expect much from television shows that include storylines like this one. It's a TV show and to expect that it will give an accurate portrayal is crazy!

Same thing happened with the Friends' storylines about infertility, surrogacy and adoption, on ER with surrogacy, the NBC show Inconceiveable, and now infertility, surrogacy and adoption on DH. It's entertainment.

What's sad is that it is the only source of education for those who have not been touched by any of these topics. Maybe someday a show will give a more accurate portrayal of these issues.
Until then we need to chill and hope that other viewers will also take it with a grain of salt.

I am so new to these boards, I had no idea what I had posted was offensive. I though ** was the appropriate 'shortcut' as in dh, or ds, or dd because the intials for birth mother are not pleasant. Is it not appropriate to use **? Please advise.
To clarify, was it the teenage comment that was offensive? The character reference the teenager, not my personal comment.

The letters B and M when used side by side are edited out by the software to remove a potentially offensive abbreviation commonly used in the medical field for bowel movement.

so does that mean it is just not proper to use an abreviation for Birth Mother then? I am embarrased that I have used this incorrectly.

bmom would be fine for short. but maybe i better let the birthmothers decide that.

alot of us made that fopaw (sp?) when coming into the forums, dont worry about it.

and i have to say THAT was so horrible, and SO 'desperate housewives.ish' that i all but Laughed out Loud!

I do watch DH but the stinkin weather kept interupting DH and Greys. Thats what happens in tornato season in OK. They replayed them at 1 in the morning so we TIVO'd them and will watch them tonight. Do you watch Greys?
