Question Lurking from the Ethiopia Forum with ?...

for those of you who came home with your little ones on a IR-4 visa. After you re-adopted/finalized the adoption here in the US how did you go about applying for your child's citizenship? (I'm assuming that some paperwork needs to be filed with USCIS.) The best I can tell, I need to file the N-600. Is that right? I can't seem to find anyone who has adopted from Ethiopia who has done this step. Thanks for your help!

I don't know about your questions.. But are you aware there is a lady named "OCRA" who is adopting from Ethiopia too? Just thought I would pass that onto you.. She is in the chat room often.. Maybe you can catch her.. Good luck.

My son came home on an IR-3 Visa but because of his name change we had to file for a new COC. The form you would use would be the N-600 to get an original COC. You file it at your local USCIS office. We filed ours a year ago and still have not received it. We did receive a receipt saying that they received our application and are working on it. If you go onto the website www.uscis.gov, you can download the form. Hope this helps.
