O.T. need some advice on cleaning product

This is kind of gross but Juliet once again is sick (that daycare thing doesn't seem such a great idea anymore). She threw up twice on Sat. on Sun. she was fine all day, yesterday my niece was watching her while I went to the Dr. when I got home she had thrown up again and then last night she got sick again. Today she was extremely cranky but she ate and didn't get sick, I am hoping this is the end of it. Ok, now my problem. She threw up all over my couches, rugs and in my study this tapestry wing back chair. I think because the other rooms are very large you can't smell anything. But whenever you walk in the study YUK!!!!! I had the windows opened all day, I cleaned all the furniture and rugs with this oxyclean carpet/upholstry spray, then I fabreezed everything. The other rooms are fine but I think because the study is smaller the smell is very noticable.

Does anyone have any advice on cleaning products I can use to get the smell out?

Thanks, sorry I know this is kind of a gross subject.

Mary

Having been ill with pneumonia over the past week weeks and vomiting induced by coughing, to say the least the carpet next to my bed took a huge hit with the vomit as I missed the trash can.

We had purchased a SpotBot about one month ago and after we wiped up what was on the carpet we used the SpotBot and there is no oder in the room at all. This machine costs about 129.00 but has been well worth the money.

I have never heard of this, where did you get it? I wonder if you can rent them? Is this like a shampooer?

Ooooh, my secret passion - cleaning product discussion!!

I just consulted my copy of "Talking Dirty with the Queen of Clean " and she recommends some product called Odorzout. (never heard of it) www.88stink.com is the website she gives, hope that is okay to post.

You also might consider making a paste of Borax laundry booster and water (spot check for colorfastness first, of course), spread over affected area and let dry overnight. Brush off in the a.m., then vacuum up area to remove what is left. If Borax is too harsh, might try the same with baking soda.

Please post if you find a miracle remedy because with two dogs, Joey and a very messy husband, I am on an never ending quest to undo whatever they have just done somewhere in this house.

Good luck!

Amy

Mary,

It is worth buying due to the low cost as it will pay for itself overtime. With little ones I use it all of the time, everyday actually since I have a dog and lots of spills from the little ones.

I bought it online but I read that someone bought it at JoAnns Bed and Bath. Places like Target, etc. may sell it. It is really a great machine.

Kelly, anything that can help save me time WORKS FOR ME lol

wal mart has some brand of 'toddler' stuff.
it's in the baby sections and has a pink label on a white bottle.
the name is escaping me, and surprisingly i dont have any right now! but it has worked wonders for us.
my older son had horrible food allergies that alluded us for months (until we had those horrible scratch tests ), and he threw up at LEAST once a day and this stuff was a wonder!
like i said it's at walmart in the infant section.
it's cheap and worth a try! i WISH i could remember the name!

i hope your little fashion girl is feeling better soon!

cris...soon to be entering altimerzes.....???

Totally Toddler

It's a stain remover for clothes, upolstery, & carpets. I can only find it at K-mart, but it works. It smells like baby soap.

Awesome is the name of the cleaner I use. (ok, one of them , but it's very effective on both stains and smells)And it can be found at the Dollar Tree. There's a carpet version too, but the original is better. Ditto for Simple Green...but SG has the benefit of being non-toxic and biodegradable. And soon, they will be coming out with different scents. SG can be found at Meijer and Kmart.

Mary - I just went through a similar thing - Luca was vomiting for no clear reason, with no other symptoms. My laundry room reeked even after I washed his dirty clothes twice, and the couch was the same. I tried everything! Then I decided, on a whim, to try this all natural dog-odor shampoo and spray combo that I got, obviously, for our giant Great Dane. It was the only thing that worked on the couch!
If you're interested, it's called "BP's Fur Foam" and the spray is called "BP's Pet Odor Eliminator", and I got them both from the Citrus Magic web site. PM me if you want the web address or more info.

We've used Nature's Miracle odor remover successfully on pet accidents. We bought it at the pet supply store.

Hope Juliet is all better by now, poor wee one!

Again Kesti has me beat with the scoomba but my array of cleaning machines is vast. I have to second her recommendation for the spotbot. It was one of my christmas presents from my husband and I have used it to clean up oil off the carpet, my friend who spent a week throwing up only to follow her husband and son throwing up used it all over her house and she absoutely LOVES it because her house doesn't smell anymore. And the best thing about it is it really is as easy as they say it is to use it. You literally put it on the spot, press a button and about 5 minutes later your done! Well worth the money if you have kids at home.

As for cleaning products I am not sure but you have some great ideas here!!

I agree with Annee - Nature's Miracle found in pet stores is amazing!! When our carpets were replaced recently, I was amazed that the product worked straight through the padding so there were no residual odors or stains when the carpet was removed. Great stuff!!!

PS - So sorry that Juliet is ill and hope she gets better real soon!!

I use OdoBan, I have nasty cats
But it works on anything, kinda hard to find lately but it works great on everything, it is like Simple Green as far as being safe.
