OT- Roomba and Scoomba

I bought a Roomba this weekend and I love the thing. What a cool machine.

So I went looking and found the Scoomba that is like a mop thing.

Any experiences? i want to know if they Scoomba is my money's worth.

Thanks!

I have been wondering the same. I have used a roomba since they first came out. I had the original and then a year or so ago got the new one and I guess there is an even newer one out on the market. Probalby the one you got!

Hope someone has soon good experiences with the scoomba

I looked it up and see that you can preorder the new model on amazon. This post just caused me 399.00 lol If it works well, it will be worth the $$$$.

For those of you who've been using the Roomba: how much dirt does it hold? They look so small that I've feard that the fur off of our 3 dogs' shaggy bodies would fill one up before the floor was half vacuumed. I love the concept, though. Vacuuming is a big challenge for us. The dogs necessitate that it be done daily but we just can't always find the time to do it.

Jesse's been swiffering for me lately, but I'm certain he'll outgrow that soon

I don't have inside dogs so I can't speak to how much fur it would hold but for normal vacumming I could usually vaccum my living room and bedroom and then change the compartment and it really didn't need it then. However, the roomba is well worth it in my opinion for people who have to vaccum for whatever reason

Thumbs up

I recieved my Roomba, named Rosie, for Christmas and I love her!! We joke that she is my fifth child. We have a hairy border collie and we run Rosie every night and we don't fill up the chamber. With three dogs you would need to make sure you run it every day or make sure you are around to empty it if it fills up. My floors have never been so clean and dog hair free. When I mop now I don't have wet dog hair showing up! I would only get the discovery or scheduler models as they are newer and hold more, have better technology and cleaning power.
So, if you have pets or hate vaccuming this is the gadget for you. Keep in mind it doesnot work as well on high pile or shaggy carpet.

I, too, am a Roomba fanatic! Got one for my elderly parents as a Christmas present and hooked them on it, too...it was getting too hard for them to use the vacuum cleaner. One of the neat things about the Scoomba (to me, anyway----I confess, I'm a tecnho-junkie!) is the research they had to do to invent a new kind of soap/detergent for the Scoomba... sufficent for removing dirt, but not as slippery as soap usually is, since the Scoomba couldn't get traction on it. Would love to hear how they well they work since I haven't----yet anyway----given in to the impluse to buy one.

I have the same question. Is the Scoomba like a mop one and does it mop the tile floors for you? Wouldn't that be great. My entire house is tile except the babies room. I have area rugs so I wonder if it just works around them? Does anyone know? I may need to ask for one of these for Christmas. I just can't seem to keep up with these floors.

I have the grey roomba, i think it is the 2nd one that came out. I love it. It goes from carpet, to hard wood, to laminate in our home. I like that it goes under the beds. It definately works best if you keep the brushes cleared....sometimes i forget

Maria, what is the scoomba Does it actually go around and mop? I have not seen that here.....but it sounds like i need to check into it.

Sorry I left the forum to run errands. Yes the Scooba is a like a mop. It sounds awfully interesting to me but wow it's pricey that's why I'm interested in experiences from oters.

As I said I ordered it soooo will let you know when I get it if it is worth the expense. I figure anything that save me time is worth it. Also, my neigbors pay housekeepers 70.00 to mop their floors so this will pay for itself I did read the reviews and one woman wrote that she loves it but it broke and was replaced so I did get the replacement warranty. Will keep you all posted
