We visited right after referral and signed POA in Guatemala. She was 2 weeks old. I did not want miss the newborn stage. It was a risk but when we came home DNA was done the day after we got back. We visited again when she was 2 months old. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do but I don't regret it one bit. All the memories and photos will be cherished forever. I urge anybody that can visit to do it.

I visited twice but both times after DNA. Both of my trips were before my daughter was 7 months so I feel blessed to have been with her as much as possible. However, as much as I wanted to go at 7 months I decided at that point it was getting excessive and perhaps was disturbing her routine etc. But I cherish those trips so much and do believe one day she will be so happy to see that we visited her while we were waiting.
