Question How much does your 6 m.o. sleep?

I'll preface this by saying I've got another appt. w/the pediatrician in a week but forgot to ask him on the last appt.

How much did/does your 6 m.o. sleep per day (how many naps and how long through the night?) Reason for this question is Rayna for the past 3 days has been taking 3-4 naps/day--each 30m-1 hr. long PLUS she is now sleeping 7-9 hours each night! I should be rejoicing but now I'm wondering if this is too much sleep?

I've had five babies so far and all of them took three naps a day until they were about a year old. One in the am, probably an hour and a half to two hours. One in the afternoon, about the same as the morning and then a short one, 45 minutes, give or take a few, around 5 or 5:30. They went to bed around 8pm and were up around 6:30am.

I hope this helps. I know all babies are different but that's what mine did.

Good luck!

If you read Baby 411 (which I highly recommend) they say that 6 months old sleep something like 14-15 hours a day, including naps. Isabella came home at 8 months old and she slept 11-12 hours during the night and took 2 naps totally about 2-3 hours and it was in line with the book.

Sounds normal to me. Mia is 9 months old - naps 1.5 hours in the morning, 2 to 3 hours in the afternoon, and takes a short nap in the evening....usually 6-7 pm or so...then to bed at 8-8:30 for 11 hours. Some babies sleep alot while others don't. My son was a good sleeper too. If she is happy and healthy, I wouldn't worry at all. Consider yourself really lucky!!

Ditto what Sharon says. Lia slept about 10-11 hours a night plus 3 naps - 1 to 1 1/2 hours in the AM, 2 hours in the afternoon and a short 1 hour between 5 - 6 PM. Now that she's 10 months, the only change is we've dropped the 3rd nap and she goes to bed at night a little bit earlier - around 7:30. As a result of getting good rest, Lia has a great disposition.

When Guapo came home at six months he slept 12 hours a night and took two naps from anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours depending on his mood.
