Do we need the I- 171H before we send the Dossier out for Authentication????????? My agency's list for the Dossier says that we need the I-171H????????? Can we finish the Dossier have it notarized, send it out before we get the I-171H??????????

With our agency we were allowed to send out the dossier for authens and stuff but we were not allowed to send our dossier to Guatemala or acccept a referral without the I171h.

Our dossier was completely certified and authenticated and we had our referral of Braeden before we received our I-171H. We waited on that for 3 weeks which is limbo but they were able to begin translating our dossier in Guatamala.

I checked all my paper work too. It says that I just need a copy of the I171H to send to the Agency but keep the original to take with us when we travel. So, it doesn't have to be N/C/A/L.

got our Dossier Authenticated and Certified first while waiting on 171H.

We sent the Dossier down previous to receiving our 171H where they translated it ect.

Take a second look at your agency list. We thought the same thing but there was a sentence at the top of the list that said the last three items don't need authentication - or something like that and I missed reading it. yes, I'm one of those people that don't read instructions, it's a character flaw Good luck!

Because we understood the steps needed with our documents for the dossier (notary signature, state seals, Guat. Consulate authentication) and because we knew that we could not submit our dossier without the 171 being notarized and authenticated, we waited until we received that GLORIOUS piece of paper and took all the documents together to Chicago for a fabulous day of running around the city. Either way, the 171 was a part of our dossier and there would be no referral without it.

for answering my question. State certification and Authentication- are they the same and do we notarize everything before sending them over to SOS????????
