Feedback wanted on Nick Hotel in Orlando

Gabriel has been bugging us to take him there and it does look like lots of fun. If you've been there I'd love to hear your opinion!

A good friend of mine has been there several times and raves about it! (She's actually CONSIDERING a Guatemalan adoption and has been "lurking" on here, so maybe this thread will bring her out of the woodwork. C.C., you know who you are!)

Would you be going just for the hotel, or to go to DisneyWorld? I personally prefer to stay "on property" when I go to Disney, and if you stay at one of the "Value" resorts, I think it may even cost less than the Nick hotel. Also, is your son old enough to sleep in a separate room (in a strange place)? I think the Nick hotel is all two-room suites, which would be great with older kids, but probably a waste of space and $ if your kid(s) will want to be in the same room as you.

Our son will be 6 in June.....

The Nick Hotel site says they also have one bedroom suites with a kitchen and without. The pictures on the site look really great. I am thinking it might be nice to go there and not do Disney since they have a Universal package through the hotel, then maybe later just do Disney and stay on property. My son is big into the water park thing and this looked great, especially since we would want to stay longer at Disney to see everything.

im a big fan of orlando and disney,
but im a little out of the 'loop' this year.

what is a "nick" hotel? and how do you guys know about this?

cris...who almost always stays at the same hotel when we go to disney....old habits die hard and we use our AmExp. points..so it's kind of free...
but im still curious!....

Cris,

I PM'd you. It's a resort that is Nickelodeon themed...

We passed by it when we were there this past weekend. It looks pretty cool. One day when we are there, we will stop by and see what they have.

I am a big Universal fan and have season passes. Fyi...if you stay on-site at the Universal hotel your room key will bump you to the front of the lines for the rides....this is especially good if you are standing in line with children.

They have great pool areas!!

The rooms are more expensive but worth every penny to avoid an hour wait.

Regards
Brandy

I don't know anything about the hotel but just wanted to say I hope you enjoy your trip to Orlando. We live in Orlando and have Season passes to Sea World. We used to have passes to Universal. We alternate between parks. We had Disney in the past but they are pretty pricey. All of the parks are great and have different things to see. I love Seuss land at Islands of Adventure.

We've never stayed at the Nick hotel, but Ive seen the website, and it does look great. We also are Universal addicts. I agree with Brandy about the convenience of staying on site for the fast passes. Our middle son was able to ride the Hulk 35 times in one day last year ~ not that most people would WANT to do that, but it can be done! ha! I think the Royal Pacific is more kid oriented as far as the pool area... But, the Portofino Bay pool is really nice too.

How fun!

I don't know anything about the hotel, but this sounds exciting. I have been wanting to go to Universal, and had hoped to go before our pick-up trip, but $ is an issue (because all in all, any extra money I would sort of rather spend on an extra visit!).

I can't wait until babe is home and a little grown up so we can go to fun places!

After your trip, I will be interested in hearing about your trip and how things went with Carmen (like, was it a pain, or pretty cool)? I know Gabriel will have a blast. He is at such a fun age!

Royal Pacific is also the least expensive (normally) of the hotels...they have a great pool!!

Keep an eye out for specials, I have gotten rooms there for as low as $99 a night. Just depends on when you go.

Fyi...my hubby would ride the Hulk 35 times! He loves that coaster!

We were planning on visiting this weekend, now that Silvia can walk she can ride the Cat in the Hat!!

Regards,
Brandy

I can't wait to start taking Bryce to the amusement parks! What a selection we have! It will have to be really soon or not until fall. We don't do the parks much during spring breaks or the summer... dh says too many people and too too hot!!
