International Birth Certificate for adoptive Parents??????

Hi,

If the adoptive parent is from another country,/ married in another country, what about getting the Birth Certificate for the Dossier/ I600A for NY????? My friend does have their certificates from abroad, and it can be notarized, and so far, they've presented it at every legal place including USCIS for other reasons and have had no problems, but for I600A they say you have to get it from the city within 5 days, etc...??????? Please provide info as they are confused.

Thanks,

I don't know about International documents, but for our I-600A we sent in copies of our old (very old) documents. It worked just fine. I know for your Dossier they ask them to be newly issed.

My husband was born in Belgium and we just sent a photocopy of his old birth certificate as well as photocopies of mine and our marriage license. You only have to have the new hard copies for the dossier.

So for I600A

We just need copies of Birth Certificate and Marriage, right????? Do they have to be notarized???? And for Dossier, do we have to get them issued again???? i.e. our International Birth Certificate and our Marriage Certificate?????

Thanks so much,
