I just wanted to tell you how much I admire you. As Emma gets older the weeks my husband is out of town on business are getting increasingly harder. Today as I was walking around our hotel after my husband decided he needed to take appointments all afternoon instead of play with us did I realize that I don't give single moms enough credit for HOW HARD their job is. So I am simply wanting to give you single moms and single dads out there a big pat on the back for the wonderful jobs you do in balancing everything and somehow staying relatively sane
Ami

I agree with you Ami. During tax season I am basically a sinlge mom because my husband works a ton of hours and is never home. In fact he hasn't seen Maria in over two weeks. He comes home to sleep and that is about it. I don't know how the single moms do it. I give you all a lot of respect.

Being a single mom, It's kinda like...'if you never had it, you don't know what you're missing'. Though I miss a good foot/back massage from time to time! Anybody know a good-looking, wealthy single guy friend that loves kids??? Send him to NC....

It's not so bad, really! Corolla's right, you can't miss what you never had. And frankly, at this point I can't imagine what it would be like if I had to share decisions or get input from anyone else.

And then there are days like today when another adult around would be heaven. I was home with Ricco because he was sick, but Danny went to Day care because he would not leave Ricco alone and he needed rest. Well, Danny gets very jeolous and all heck broke loose tonight and Danny was a handful. Sometimes it tough to calm down when both are acting up at the same time and you need a break. But like most single parents, sometimes you give yourself a time out
Thanks Ami, its nice to get praise. Mary, mom to Danny and Ricco |

I agree with everyone else. There are ups and downs and advantages and disadvantages. I could choose whatever names I wanted. I get all the hugs and kisses. But if something happens to me, there is no one else (although I have made plans for guardians for them). And the thing that makes me the saddest of all is when I see other men playing with their boys. I think to myself that there is some man out there who is missing out on the two best sons ever. I have a hard time with that.
But thanks for your note, Ami. That was something I needed to see tonight! You hang in there, Marjorie

I agree!! I am VERY nervouse about the 5 days of me being a single mom when Adam goes to get Migel.
I have a single mom in my daycare that has no family, no friends, and no husband/boyfriend. Litterally noone to help her (except us of course) . I have absolutly no clue how she does it, except for the fact she looks forward to bringing her daughter to daycare some Monday mornings She has did it for 3.5 years now.

I agree Ami! Since we have moved to Texas my Dh has been spending a lot of time in New Orleans wrapping things up for work AND taking care of our insurance issues, selling our properties and getting what's left of our stuff packed and moved. I have been a single mom more weeks than not in the last six months and I too give a cheer for the single parents out there.
It is not easy!

Thank you for the credit you give us... we don't get alot of pats on the backs from a spouse like you might, but we are so blessed with these little miracles that call us Mom (or Dad).
I have been a single mom for 7 years now to my (now 3) kiddos... dd - 13, ds - 11 and dd - 9 mos. I have to say that they are my "Sun" and life revolves completely around them and I am so incredibly blessed. Albeit, some days I would love a hand with carpool, snotty noses or bath time... but the rest of the time... this is my normal and can hardly remember the days of sharing them with somebody else. Bless you for your post! Sarah

Thanks for thinking of us singles, how sweet.
To be honest, it seems to be many of my married friends are de facto single moms at least part of the time anyway. There are times when living alone with a small child gets to feel a bit confining, but most of the time it's not too bad. I always get the first smile of the day and the last hug and kiss good night... -Kathleen |
