OT Strollers at Disney

Hubby has a new question, for those of you who go to disney, do you take your own stroller? We will have one with us, but we saw that they are left unattended while waiting in line. Should we take ours or rent one? Or use our smaller umbrella stroller?

take your own, your child will be more comfortable. We just went in November, they have little stroller parking lots. We didn't have any problems with anything getting swiped. The rental ones are big and bulky, wouldn't work for my little one.

I was just at Disneyland the other day. I recommend that you take your own. I didn't take my umbrella stroller. I took my regular one so my daughter could recline and nap if she wanted. She did nap and was very comfortable. The rentals ARE big and bulky. I was concerned about my stoller being stolen, but have had no problems with that twice now. My friend advised me to take my own and I am glad I listened. She said that she figured that if someone took her stroller - they needed it more than she did. It should be fine.

We took our double-stroller, a side by side one. When we had to leave it, no one ever bothered it. It worked out well.

Take your own, it is easier for you, and trust me-no one bothers them. I even see people leaving their backpacks in there and other things!

I say take your own because of her age. BUT I LOVED the disney ones for our 4 year old when we went.

I agree with menadam -- with a young baby, bringing your own stroller will work better because it will be more comfy than the hard plastic of the Disney ones. But with older kids, I prefer the rental strollers for convenience -- it can be a real pain to get your stroller on and off the busses or parking trams at the beginning/end of the day. The nice thing with the rentals is that even if you "park hop," you can just turn in the stroller at the first park and then bring your receipt to pick up another one at the next park, without having to transport it. Also, we always use the top canopy of the stroller as a place to carry our bags, lol!

LOL, I also can't let this topic go without mentioning that with a small baby, you could easily get away with no stroller at all -- just carry her in a sling! That's the easiest method of all, IMO!

Hello,
Disney buff here. Been there over 100 times. I have not had any problems with stolen strollers. The ones they rent are a very hard plastic and not appropriate in our opinion for young children because they do not allow for comfort at all. I wouldn't suggest leaving a whole lot in it, maybe carry a backpack in place of a diaper bag and not with wheels, they are being picky about those because they are trip hazards. Also, be careful not to pack anything odd in it. They do check them on the way into parks. They do have stroller parking outside of most attractions, but the Castmembers will move them around to make room as people park them and also pull them out and go. So don't get too scared if it isn't exactly where you left it. I have heard of a very odd method of madness. You could try tieing a "sing wetted" diaper in a disposable bag around the handle if you really are scared of stroller theft. It sounds gross, but effective. I really wouldn't worry about it though.

Another tip for finding your stroller easily is tying a brightly colored scarf on the handle. It makes your stroller stick out more. My sister does that when she goes to Disney.

I agree take your own stroller. I have left mine unattended this past trip and had nothing taken and no problem. You can rent them but they don't look very comfy.

Hi,

I guess I will find out this weekend as we will be in Orlando from Friday until Monday. (Can't wait!!!)

I plan to take my own and hope that nothing happens as I LOVE my stroller.

We were at Disneyland in November and had kind of a scare though. We got off of a ride and my stroller (and my sister's stoller) were not where we left them. We panicked and finally asked someone and were told all of the strollers were relocated for the parade. Luckily they were right where the employee told us they would be.

Hi, I bet you will end up carrying him a lot due to all of the walking. I guess it depends on his endurance as to how easy/fast he gets tired.
