Question about traveling USair-frequent flyer miles
I was wondering if anyone has taken USair to Guatemala?
We have frequent flyer miles and we (I assume) could use them. We are just starting out... just filling out our paperwork and signing with an agency. BUT... I'm looking into things to keep myself busy as things progress. We still may have to have an escort since my father who is 78 lives with us and I'm worried about leaving him. we don't know much about traveling out of the country either since we have never done so before. I don't hear much about people taking USair so I was wondering. Also, If we can not go , would we be able to give our flyer miles to our agency to use to cut down a little on cost? Thanks |

I don't know how familiar you are with using frequent flyer miles, but it has been my experience that you can't always just specify dates at the last minute (or even in advance) and expect to be able to find flights where they will let you use your FF miles. The more flexible you are on dates,and the more in advance you can plan usually the better. Most airlines have something where you can use double the amount of miles, and they are much more flexible.
You can get a ticket for someone else using your FF miles.

hi!
we got a visa card for usair miles specifically for this purpose. i dont remember there being any problems. i do know i checked that usair website and clicked dates like a zillion times a day once we were out of pgn though. you may end of having to stay an extra day or so, or even leave earlier but its all good in the end! we also have another card amex we racked up points and i used those points for the westin stay! so, i say, start spending! and racking up those points! cris...

using frequent flier miles
we used delta frquent flyer miles for our visit trip. we needed 35000 miles per person. sometimes you do not get the exact day you want. it helps if you book early or if you can leave out of more than one airport. you can buy miles if you are short. some airlines let you receive miles as a gift from someone. if you are not able to go, you could use the mles to buy a ticket for someone else.
good luck

Thanks everyone. We already have enough miles for my husband and I to fly there for free.
I have flown USair many times and have been ok with them. I wondered about their flight to Guatemala though. Also I knew we could give our flyer miles to someone else but I didn't know if the agencies would take them and do that. I wondered if anyone has ever done that and if the agency was ok with it. When I have used my miles with them in the past I have never had a problem but you just know..... the most important trip of my life ... something will probably go wrong ... right??? So I was just checking. Thanks all!! |
