For pink slip, does the embassy contact the attorney...
once it is issued, or does the attorney have to go by the embassy and ask about it?

They hand out the pinks in the afternoon and the attorney has to be there to get it. They are definitely delayed as of the last couple of weeks.

For what it's worth, my attorney was called when my pink slip was ready. Because it was the holidays and the Embassy was closing early that day, the Embassy called the attorney and told him to get down there in the a.m. to pick up the pink slip.
