Hi Everyone,

Ok, dossier is ready to go to the consulate in Chicago. Do I staple the state seals to each document and send them this way or do you leave the papers loose?

Hi,

I would staple the State seals to the front of the documents (that's how all mine were returned to me). Then, the Consulate will fold that paper up half way and stamp and sign part of the back of it and part of the front of your actual document. Does that make sense?

Yes, thanks. Our first three adoptions were done through an agency and they handled this for us. This one we are trying a different route due to different circumstances.

I stapled on my state seals as well.

Our captial certified the documents and tacked them together with the fancy little gold brads (that cannot be removed- or it would be void). We were told that we couldn't alter any of the documents once they have been certified. We sent them to get authenticated as they were.

I sent my stapled which is how I received them back from the state.

When you staple the certifications on, make sure you don't remove and restaple. Any extra staple holes will be a reason for kickout in PGN. All documents need to look like they have no errors whatsoever, even staple holes.

Like everyone's said here, you should staple them on. Ours were returned from State that way. One more thing you might do before you staple (if you haven't already) is go ahead and make a copy of everything then staple. We made a complete copy of our dossier after authentication was done. Kinda tough with all of the staples because you can not take them out. It'll be easier to copy the documents before stapleing and sending to the consulate. Then when they get back from the consulate you only need to make a copy of the authentication on the front of each document. HTH

Thank you so much for everyone's input. Our state seals are just given to us loose and they didn't even look at the original documents since I had a sheet with all the information made out for them thus my question.

I am going to copy them and then off to the consulate on Monday. YEAH
