Please help a friend of a friend
I was wondering if anybody could help me. A friend of mine has a friend that is adopting from Guatemala, and they are paper ready and their homestudy is complete. Can anyone give me a general idea about how long their wait will be? Thank you all in advance.

wait for ? a ref of a child?
or bring that child home. Guatemala..as I have learned is different for everyone. the ref of a child depends on the agency..(I was paper ready authenicated and certified) and our daughter was born within the next month..but this depends on the agency so on.. the timeline with Guatemala changes and is different with all cases..some go through so smooth and children are home within 4 months. and others are home at 12 months.. my agnecy tells families 6-9 months.. I personally got my ref in June and am still in the final court my daughter is 7 months..but the average seems to be some what younger..than that... It just depend on so many factors..I have friends that had the same agency and attorney and have gone through much faster it just depends on the courts..and how things are moving each step of the way ..but I do think 6-9 months is a good average. to tell your friends.. I am sure others will be able to help more.. Blessings. |

I'm sorry, I should have been clearer. I am assuming they want to know how long until the baby is home.

There is not a set amount of time. Some people bring babies home at 4months....some people can wait a lot longer.
The best advice you can give them is not to be set on any timeline guess they are given. Each case is very different.

then what I am told 6-9 months is the average
I met alot of people in Guatemala bringing children home after a short 4-5 month wait.. my good friends adoption took a year.. so it really does depend on the time of year and the attorney and courts at that time.. I agree to not get set on a time line.. blessings. |
