USAIR vs DELTA to GUA, ANY THOUGHTS
Hello
We have both options for visit trips and pickup and have heard both ends of the spectrum on the experience of coming into Atlanta for customs/immigration. Has anyone had any experience coming into Charlotte on USair from GUA? If so, would you please share it with me? I understand Atlanta, though busy, is well set up with obtaining the child's visa, etc. and I want to see how that compares to Charlotte if possible. Thank you and bless you. |

My husband and I just flew home with our daughter from Guatemala with US Air and went through Charlotte a week ago. We came through on a Friday and had NO problems, it went very quick. There were no lines and we had no issues with our paperwork.
On our visit trip we flew Delta and went through Atlanta, which was very busy and we had to stand in line for quite some time. I found NC to be much easier. Melissa

Melissa:
Thank you, that is very helpful information. Any advice on the child visa thing at Charlotte, or was it fairly easy? It was described to me as the green room at Atlanta, and the kind member that shared this with me said it took just minutes for that step. Thanks. |

I have traveled through Atlanta on all 3 visit trips and thought it was fairly easy. Though busy, they always moved people through fast. I have not had experience with bringng a child home yet):, but hopefully soon.
On my last trip home from a visit, we had several families bringing children home, they were only minutes behind us when getting our luggage, so it must have been quick. My friend also brought a child home the next day, though Atlanta, and she said it was very easy. Good luck.

I have gone through customs in Houston and Atlanta. I was impressed with both airports. Delta through Atlanta was fast, fast, fast and that was on my fligth home with Kiran. Their airport immigration procedures were pretty fast too but we did come home on an IR3 which does make a big difference in respect to immigration procedures at point of touch down. Kiran was technically a US citizen when we went through immigration so the procedure didn't amount to much.
Anyhoo,.....to sum up an answer to your specific question, Customs in Atlanta was well staffed, organized and fast.

We brought Mia home through Atlanta (on Delta). It was very fast and moved very quickly. Immigration and the little visa office were both staffed very well. No problems at all. Good luck!

I did US Air through Ft Lauderdale and I would never fly them or thru there again. When I asked for water after running for our flight, the attendant told me she only did first class. Come on....I had a child in tow and one in a carrier.

Wow, that is really good to know. Was your customs in Ft. Lauderdale too, or Charlotte? If we get stuck with them (based on available tickets at the time) I would like to have a feel for that. Thank you.

Ft Laud. and it was horrible. Barely made my flight because there was only 1 on duty not because we didn't have enough time. Good luck. Nancy
