OMG....It FINALLY HAPPENED!!!!!!
She did it.....!!!!
She did it......!!!!! She FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY Said "Mama" !!!!!!! Here we were, sitting down to dinner. A casual meal....she must have been trying to get my attention and she was patting her spoon on the high chair tray...and said just as PLAIN as day..." MA MA!!!" I swear to you I dropped my fork!! I looked at her and said ..."did you just say MAMA!!????" and she grinned from ear to ear....Then of course I had to, HAD to be sure it wasn't just a fluke, an accident...a coincidental noise she made...So I got her to say it again. And again and again. What a sweet, sweet sound from the precious voice of my amazing little daughter!! Then it was "Ma ma ma ma"... Oh, could you just faint!!????  You can't even imagine how cool this is!! Not only because I have waited FOREVER (almost) to hear her say it...and not only because I have tried to drill it into her for the last 11 months....!!!! (she's 19 months now and came home at 8 months...).....I really some days thought she would never say it! She does say other words, so I wondered...and waited...and waited!! But it's also really special because all day long I've been thinking about this time last year...and how things finally fell into place for her to become my little girl forever...And tomorrow is the One Year Anniversary of her amended birth certificate which gave her my last name.... So that's pretty COOOL!!! Of course I had to share with you all....Not too many can appreciate this "momentous" occasion and I knew I'd get a good Hurrah from the crowd!! YAY!!!!!! Awww, that is so awesome. My little guy says a lot of Dadas but no Mama yet either. I am SO happy for you for this wonderful milestone!

I can sure appreciate it. . . I have a 28 month old who has only occasionally called me mama...then calls everyone mama (daddy, sissy, the cat). . .sigh.

Hurrah!!!! I remember hearing that for the first time... seems like he said everything but 'mama' and now he calls me all day long and follows me around and just chants it!! It's music to my ears tho! I'm so happy that you finally heard that magic word!

Hooray, Mama! Thanks for sharing. I know what you mean about the drilling. Ours went like this for about a year and a half:
Me: (pointing to myself) Mama! Jackson: Buh Me: (still pointing) Mama! Mama! Mama! Jackson: Buh! So it also doesn't surprise me you had to hear it twice -- you have to make sure it's not a "Buh" gone wrong! Congrats, Marjorie
