Luke's first Christmas at home :)
Seems like it's been a while since I posted, much less posted any new pictures of Luke... I stay so busy with him and the other 3 kids, that I barely have time to just skim the forum. I decided it was time you all saw how much Luke has grown. He was 18 months old on Dec. 20th, and weighs 28 lbs. I have no idea how tall he is, but I know his pants are getting shorter, so I know he's getting taller
He's beginning to really talk and once he started saying 'mama', he chants it ALL day long! He is a mama's boy for sure. Tonight, he wouldn't let his dad feed him supper.. he'd cry and point to me and say 'mama' and I'd have to spoon it in. Then we sat down in the living room and David put his arm around me and Luke came running over to us and crying and pushed his arm off me and got in my lap and hugged me. He would not let David near me. Yesterday, when I sat down on the couch, Frankie, our dachshund, jumped up next to me, and Luke got all upset and came and got between us. It's kind of funny and I feel special, but this could get old... Right now, I'm enjoying being his favorite! Here are a 'few' pictures of Luke.. some Christmas and some just recent ones... It's so hard to just pick one or two.. I guess I just need to post more often ![]() Congratulations to all who've gotten good news and referrals and out and pink lately! I remember this time last year, we had just gotten our 171-H and DNA authorization and had to wait for the holidays to end so things could get moving again... and now, here we are with Luke and it doesn't even seem real that he's here and he's absolutely perfect! We love him so much and are so thankful that he's a part of our family now! Here is the little guy ... One of the rare occasions I got him to sit still under the tree.... Judy |

My Christmas elf!
This is Luke in a hat that I took to Guatemala on our visit trip right after Thanksgiving last year. It matched a little Christmas suit I took his picture in. I put it on him for fun, and although it's way too small, he thought it was funny and actually left it on for a little while.

Luke unwrapping his first present Christmas Eve...
We always let the kids open one present on Christmas Eve, and it was so neat to see Luke learning how it all works.. He was pretty happy about tearing the paper...

Too Cute!
Judy, it has been a long time since I've seen pictures of Luke! I try to browse around the forums too, but I understand how it is to be busy with the family! I'm so glad you took the time to post updates of Luke. He gets more handsome with each picture!
I'm still hoping for Isaac and I to meet Ya'll one day! Have a Happy and Healthy New Year! Becky

My little 'bat' man
Luke sounds so much like Miguel (pmgor)... he loves any type of ball but especially baseball. When he was a year old exactly, he picked up a bat at our youngest daughter's softball game and swung it like he knew what he was doing. We now have a nerf kind of bat and he will run to the same spot (apparently, the tile at our backdoor is homeplate) whenever we ask if he wants to play ball, and grabs the bat and actually swings at it when we throw the ball to him. I just really cracked up when he did it while he was sporting his batman mask... Here he is..

my oldest son, Jacob...
Many of you remember my son, Jacob, who was pretty sick in the hospital with Hepatitis ( a little gift his baby brother brought him from Guatemala
) in June....He later got a bad concussion in a bike accident in late August, and then broke his arm in football practice two weeks later. It was a rough few months, but he went back and finished the football season and his team actually went to the National Championships... pretty exciting.. He is still dating his girlfriend, Grace, for over 17 months now and gave her a promise ring for Christmas! I'm not sure what I think about that, but they're pretty convinced that they're soul mates... Well, yesterday, he turned 16 years old and we got up early to take his driving test and he PASSED! I can't believe I have a child old enough to drive. He got a car and a cell phone for his birthday, and we've barely seen him since. We've always lived out in the country and he's been driving trucks and tractors and farm equipment literally, since he was Luke's age, and is a very, very good and experienced driver, but I'm still nervous about him driving alone. He's been so excited and happy about getting his license, and once Grace is allowed to actually go 'out' with him, he'll be even happier. I'm just glad he's been healthy and in one piece for the last couple of months! I thought you might enjoy seeing a picture from his birthday yesterday... No more pictures for a while... sorry I posted so many, but I got behind... ![]() Here's my Jacob! |

Judy,
Wow, you've had a quite a few months. I'm glad things are going well and Jacob has been healthy. Luke is just way too cute. What a little ham. Dante will be 18 months on Jan 9. I sure hope he starts talking. He still just babbles, but understands everything I tell him. He also impresses me with how quickly he picks up on things. Thanks for sharing all the pictures.. I sure did enjoy them. Pam Congrats to Jacob for passing his drivers test. I failed my first time. Here in PA you have to drive through cones at a certain speed limit. Well, I was going slightly down hill and the car picked up speed. I was afraid to put on the brakes because I knew I would fail. So instead I ran over a cone. When I parked and the instructor got out he stamped failed and politely said "when you hit that cone you just ran over a pedestrian(sp)." I can laugh about it now, but I was so humiliated ![]()

Pam, I laughed when I read your story about the driver's test. Jacob didn't tell me all the details because he was just so happy he passed.. he took the learner's permit test twice, so he was worried... he did tell me that he ran a stop sign, but apparently that's not enough to fail the test here in Alabama... I don't think there were any 'cones' in his test, or he'd probably be home with me tonight instead of at his friend's house!
I'm sure Dante will be talking more coherently soon! Luke babbles and we ask him what language he's speaking because HE knows what he's saying and we have a pretty good idea sometimes. Other times, he just surprises us and says words we didn't even know he knew. He does seem to understand everything we say! All this is a huge blessing after not even knowing if he could hear at first! Cathy, he has grown, hasn't he? We're really glad we adopted him, too! He is a little sweetheart and my little teddy bear! |

Judy: I don't know how but Luke gets more handsome everytime I see his picture. I'm so sorry we didn't meet in Alabama, i'm so ready to meet both of you. I think Luke and Miguel could really put some action together, those 2 must be a pair if we let them in one room, LOL
He's just gorgeous!

What handsome sons you have! Luke is darling. Both he and Jacob have come a long way since their hearing and hepatitis scares of earlier this year. Thanks for sharing.
