any of you adopting and pregnant?

This has been a total surprise for us!! Thank goodness our agency does not ban pregnant adoptive mom's to be
to not pursue the adoption that is in process.

The few people I have told all ask if we will continue our
adoption- as if this were an option?!

I would be interested in hearing any experiences..

Not me personally...but one of my very good friends. She picked up her 5 month old in October and gave birth in January. Needless to say she was a very busy woman for a couple of years!!!

Hi Josiah,
It didn't happen to us, but I had to come over and say congratulations to you.... I don't know your history, but I never really understood the "miracle" part of a new baby until I learned we couldn't have one, so when I hear something like this happen so unexpectedly, it does make me very happy!

Becky,

Was your friend able to travel? I am hoping to visit
the baby and am nervous that my doctor will say no.

Thanks, Julie!

I am high risk so we had decided to bypass pregnancy.
This totally caught us off guard. We are hoping for the best, though.

My friend did travel. Of course she was only about 6 months pregnant (her little one arrived a bit early!). If she could not have traveled her husband would have gone alone.

You're welcome, Josiah! It must have happened for a reason... I'll say a prayer for you that all goes well, and everything is better than imagined! Good luck with everything.

I rarely ever post but I am going to today. We are in the middle of our second adoption and I am pregnant. We recieved our referral the end of July and we found out about this surprise in September. We have one biological 5 year old son and our Russian born 2 1/2 year old son. Our guatemalan daughter to be is 5 months old and our process has been nothing but slow!!!!!!!!!!! The complete opposite of our Russian adoption. I am high risk so I was a wreck waiting to hit the second trimester. I am planning on visiting our daughter in January so I can at least get there once in the event I may not be able to pick up. I am very blessed to have four different stories to share with my children. But believe me I am nervous at going from 2 kids to 4 in a matter of a couple of months. Not to mention my 2 youngest will be 10 months apart.

We also had people ask if we would continue our adoption. We never second guessed anything. This is what God had in store for us. We now understand the reason we suffered infertility problems, our son and our daughter.

Congrats to you, and I am happy for you guys.

We decided to adopt again and got a referral June 30th. We found out we were preg on the 15th of June.
Despite the scariness we decided to go for it.
So My DH goes the first week of Jan to pick her up and I'm due Feb 13th.
I cannot travel nor would my hubby be okay with that.
I'm super sad but...I would HATE to have anything happen. Even the slightest nausea and vomiting could put me into early labor.
So home I stay with our sweet sweet Guat dtr 2.5 yrs old to await our 6 month old.
YIKES
God has a plan and I'm excited to be a part of it.
I'm excited for you too!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations!
It happened to us too (after years of fertility treatments), bam, it happened the old-fashioned way right after we accepted our referral. We definitely continued with the adoption, and we are so glad we did because I had a miscarriage. The only thing that kept me going after that was knowing our baby boy would soon be in our arms. And now he is and I can't imagine not having him!

Laurie

Thanks, everyone! I was told by the doctor that she would feel good about me traveling earlier than sooner in my pregnancy so we will see...

reds- you will definitely have your hands full!! This
is truly incredible!!

Laurie- I'm so glad you have your precious son in your arms!

tjlombard-I know how you feel about not being able to
pick up your son. At least it iwll be for a good reason!

Sandy- You just never know!! It just may be you someday...

This just happened to us..sort of! We tried for 2 years and decided to go ahead and adopt. We paid a lot of $$$ to be told we would never concieve. 2 months after we brought our son home we ended up some how pregnant. We sort of see it as a temporary infertility. God must have wanted us to adopt our son and knew that we would have never even thought of adoption had we not been unable to concieve. We are grateful for our infertility and are now praying for patience to be able to handle a 3yr old, 18month old, and newborn in June!!

We accepted our daughter's referral on Thanksgiving Day of 2004. On Xmas Day we found out we were 8 weeks pregnant. One month later, on Jan 25, 2005, I had emergency surgery for an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy. Our daughter came home in April of this year at 5 months. I can't imagine not continuing with our adoption, even if I had carried the pregnancy to term...
