Anyone in NYS use private SW instead of agency????

Help!!!!

I'm so confused - I'm' sure it's not for the first time. My agency is based in NJ and I live in NYC. I just spoke with NYS Office of Family and Child Services and they say that criminal background check (that gets initiated when I go for my local precinct good conduct letter - fingerprints are taken and forwarded to the Office of Family and Child Services and they run criminal check) has to go to adoption agency that is affiliate with them - my agency is not - but my agency says the report goes to the social worker/homestudy agency but my social worker knows nothing about this - and now someone else is telling me that it does have to go to social worker but that NY changed things in the past few years and they won't send report to private SW only to licensed homestudy agency that is affiliate with them. I'm so confused!!!!

Anyone who can help??????

I'm in NYS and immigration told me that they wouldn't accept a homestudy from a private SW. It had to be through a agency. I had to re-do my fingerprints so that they went directly to the agency. My first set of response's were sent to me but the agency said they could not accept those. The rules were changed not that long ago from my understanding. Probably within the last couple of years.
