How was your Guatemalan adoption experience?

I have always wondered the percentage of good and bad adoption experiences. If you have completed a Guatemalan adoption and don't mind to vote, let's get an idea of the good, the bad, the ugly percentages.

If you have not completed your adoption there is a special section to report how you feel things are going, so far.

Our agency was fine and our faciliatators and attorneys were GREAT. Our timeline speaks for itself!

So far, we have had an excellent experience. I truly like our agency and their staff in GC ~ They've been wonderful. Our FM is tremendous. Our daughter, Bryce, is a baby that dreams are made of! We just entered PGN, so ask me again in a few weeks!

Ours was good, but doesn't everyone have to endure something? Mine was the conflict dh and I had over adopting (btw Joe now has dh completely wrapped around his little finger).

Hoo boy it was UGLY!

I'm a "Hoo boy it was UGLY!"

Very dissatisfactory experience with the agency and attorney, 10 month timeline they kept telling me was great, difficulty getting any information, multiple kickouts and previos on a routine case...and a Program Director who kept telling me "There's nothing we can do (about the fact that you are in PGN for 5 months, getting kicked out time and again for your attorney's ridiculous errors), so you should just PRAY!!"

ARGH!

Like I said: "Hoo boy it was UGLY!"...

(Except for our Bebito, and the joy we had in knowing he would become our son, and in bringing him home, finally!!! And in the end, that's what it's all about, so...)

We were very happy with our agency, atty, facilitator, FM and also loved the 'family' of clients at the agency. We're lucky and we know it, having had the polar opposite experience w/our first adoption.

Hello...

We had an absolutely terrific experience, EXCEPT for the Hague which was out of everyone's control. We had a great agency, a diligent and quick attorney, fabulous foster parents, and also one of the best baby girls there is!!! Couldn't get any better than all of this!!!

I had a great experience with my agency and I used the same agency twice. Both my sons were home at good ages and they had excellent foster care. Here is my time lines:
Danny:
Born August 14, 2002
Referred September 6
Out of PGN December 11
Home December 24, 2002

Ricco
Born June 3, 2004
Referred June 25, 2004
Out of PGN October 13, 2004
Home November 19, 2004
* 3-1/2 week delay for Guatemala City Birth Certificate.
The bottom line was that my agency was upfront with everything including costs and updates ect..
I was very happy with them

Hmmmmm. . . . . I'm somewhere in the middle. We had fabulous foster families, but a so-so agency. We got information, updates, etc., but usually had to ask. And then there were our attorneys. Lauren's attorney was just plain SLOW, SLOW, SLOW. Today, tomorrow, next week, whatever . . . .
I don't think the delays in Daniel's case were actually the fault of the attorney, but it was still 8 months of torture.
Without them I would not have my wonderful children though, and, as Bebito's Mama said, that is what is important in the end.
I would do it all again in a hearbeat, but with a different agency and attorney.

I marked the "good experience" because Brielle's process couldn't have gone smoother or faster.

BUT as you know we had a horrible, nasty failed adoption prior to this. So you can add one more to the UGLY if you want.
