We sponsor a child in Guatemala through Compassion International. We have been sponsoring children through them for almost 20 years. We have been very happy with them. You can write letters and even go on a sponsored trip to visit your child. They have a very high rating of % of money that goes to the actual program.

World Vision
Just had to share - After reading this thread I decided to check out World Vision's website - there was a little boy named Jorge (my son's birthname) who resembled my son so much. I called my husband in and said "look at this little boy, we have to sponsor him" and he immediately agreed that we should do it. So, we're sponsors now
. I had been wanting to be a sponsor for a while, but just never got around to it, thanks for starting this thread.

We sponsor a six-year-old Guatemalan girl through Children International (children.org). We get frequent letters and little pictures she's drawn. We write regularly and send special monetary gifts at holidays (the organization tells us what the money has been used for).

We sponsor with Compassion International and are thrilled with them. They do amazing work! I think we're going to try to go on a sponsor tour to Guatemala with them next summer to meet the little girl that we sponsor.

We sponsor two little girls in Guatemala. It is interesting that I checked the forum and saw this post as I just received photos of them with gifts we sent them a few weeks ago. I'll pm you the name of the agency as they are totally reputable and you can select the child you want to sponsor thru the photos they post on their website. I had the opportunity to spend time with them in Nov 2004 when we visited our princess who is now home and it was a marvelous experience as they are God's precious gifts I picked these two little ones to sponsor because they are the age that my bio daughter would have been if she had lived. I love them so much. Attached are photos of them that we just received today.
