I 'guess' he would have to go through the abandonment proceedings...I really do not know how this would even work. My guess is that it would be very difficult for a US family to adopt him....what a sad sad story.

Thanks for the info. Being there and seeing this happen was so sad. I still can't get that little boy's face out of my mind. I wanted to run after them and tell them to take him to the US and we would find someone to adopt him there.
I wonder if they came home and just told everyone that the adoption fell through because of the Guatemalan government. Instead of the truth. He is their son and they left him there. Vicki

I agree that is an awful story. I guess in the situation I was thinking of, the agency helped the family bring the child back to the U.S. (maybe escorted) and then placed him or her as a domestic adoption.

Sorry Addisonsmommy, we seem to be taking over your thread, but I just could not believe my eyes to read about that poor child rejected at the embassy. What a heartbreaking situation - and what outrageous behavior by the couple! How can people do such things? Very, very sad.

we brought our Robbie home and when we took him to the doctor it was then we found out he had a skull fracture which occured at about 1 1/2 months to 2 m 1/2 months of age. We spent our first week at home in the hospital wondering if our child would have brain damage or develope brain damage from the old blood traped between the brain and skull. He is going to be just fine and has no brain damage and I can't help but think what if we had known Robbie had a skull fracture and was high risk would we have proceeded. It terrifies me to even think what would have happened if I had known up front...I just thank God for holding my baby and keeping him safe. Robbie completes our family and I can't imagine life without him. He was the child God chose for us. When it comes to the medical risk you just have to pray about it and not let the devil steal the perfect plan God has for your family.
