Is anyone aware of what schedule the courts in Guatemala keep for the month of December. I was told they shut down to just minimal staff for three weeks or so for holidays and vacattion time. Any truth to this?

I was told the same thing last year. We were in the middle of our adoption process and our agency said that the court shut down for almost a month at Christmas. So sad....

Typically 1/2 of the family court social workers take a vacation for several weeks, then when they return the other 1/2 goes on vacation.

As for PGN and the rest of members of the process...they don't officially shut down, but there are many vacations during that time of the year...just as there are here in the US.

Hi,

For two months, only 3 out of the 6 courts will be working. Here is the schedule for this year (2005-06):

Nov 15 to Dec 15 - 3 of the 6 courts will take off

December 15 to January 15 - the other 3 of the 6 will take off

Your attorney will probably be very careful to not submit files to family court just prior to vacations (to avoid having it sit on someone's desk with no action for a month).

I think that is when I should be getting submitted to Court (if I understood correctly). Should I worry?

i know with our first referral last year, we had just exited fc at the mid/beginning of december, and were not entered into pg until after the 15th of january! arugh! was i frustrated!
it does seem there is some real truth to the 'slow down' from mid dec to mid jan. there was in my case!

im curious what others experienced!

This is so depressing I can hardly stand it. I am serious. I think I am headed toward a nervous breakdown. Our SW will not write up our report--she has been sitting on it for a month--and now you're telling me in a few days, she's going on a month-long vacation? Somebody wake me when this nightmare is over..........
