Paperwork for embassy????

In addition to paperwork we will be given by our attorney I was told I needed to bring the following.........

There are several documents that you will need to bring with you to the Embassy. First, you will need your three most recent tax returns. These should be notarized copies. This means you will need to attach a cover sheet to each certifying that it is a true copy of the original document. Second, you will need to have proof of employment. Notarized employer letters, like we used for your dossier, will be sufficient.

Is this all you were told to bring? I thought a while back I heard something about copies of pay stubs, but maybe I'm mixing that up with dossier paperwork. Were you ever asked for anything additional?

Embassy

I think the copy of pay stubs and employer letter and interchangeable - some agencies have you bring the letter, ours says pay stub is fine.

I sure hope so because that is what I have!

We were not told what to bring (it doesn't surprise me that our lovely agency neglected to tell us this too ), so I went to the US Embassy's web site and they have a page that tells one what to bring. I didn't realize the tax returns needed a 'true and exact' letter - back to the bank we shall go.

Thanks for posting this.

I didn't think that the tax returns needed to be notorized. I was told just copied were needed.

Technically, no, they don't need to be notarized. If you look at the I-864 it explains this. But we also had ours notarized. I guess it's an extra level of caution. If you didn't visit (like us), you will need to fill out the I-864, and the tax documents and proof of employment go along with this form.

Here is the link to the Embassy website that Mieyasmommy mentioned, that talks about exactly what you need.

http://travel.state.gov/family/adopt...untry_389.html

There is lots of great info. but scroll down to

3. THE VISA INTERVIEW WITH THE CONSULAR SECTION

for what you need for the Embassy visit.
