Guatemalan growth charts

We have received an updated medical record for our 11 month old baby boy, and have compared it to the CDC growth charts - being at the 10th percentile or lower in every category.

I believe that he is likely fine in comparison to other Guatemalan babies, but would like to make sure. Does anyone know where I might find a hispanic or Guatemalan-specific growth chart?

Thanks

I have searched high and low on the Big List, etc. for a growth chart and found one woman who had a study that was done a few years back. I contacted her and she did not have the study any longer. After that, I found that Dr. Monteil discusses head size on his website using a small sampling of babies. I really don't think one exists. I would love to see one if it did exist because both of my daughter are tall and they have always been off the charts in the other areas or at the top of the charts so it would be interesting to know if they are smaller, avg., or larger than most Guat. children. From this forum I am deducing that they are on the taller side.

I searched everywhere after each medical update while waiting for our daughter. I found some aisan charts that were more on track with her growth. My little girl was always in the 10th percentile or lower. She is still small at 15 months but her international adoption pediatrician says shes is just fine. Watch for consistent growth as opposed to the percentile.

yup, that's what my dr. said....

watch for consistent growth. yes there is certainly a diference between the us growth chart and a guat chart.

yes, would be interesting to see a guat growth chart though...

maybe someone will have some info. interesting thread cause have thought about this myself...

Bryce is in the 25th percentile in weight, and the 3rd for length...Can I expect a short chubby daughter? She's gonna look like Mama!

Just to give you perspective...my healthy 13yr old US born Bio son is 50% hieght 10% weight. He is fine...our doctor said it is more important to see the rate of growth...This is just his body type.

Just my 2 cents

Here is one I found for hispanic children:

http://www.growtall.com/boyhispanic.htm

http://www.growtall.com/girlhispanic.htm

I have to check I think there is another one, but it is in Lexie's room (she's sound a sleep). I will double check and let you know.

I have a similar problem. Lexie is 4 and is about the size of a 2 year old, but happy, healthy and extremely active. I keep having to convince the dr. that she was not born here and should not be compared to US born children in terms of size. When I found these charts it seemed to make her understand a little bit better.

Donna

PS..I hope it is OK to post the URLs.

Just so you know we were at a Adoption Fair and did a class on the medical aspect. The one doctor there advised us that the Guatemalan groth chart is pretty much the same as ours just converted to spanish...She workes at C.H.o.P...If you need her name or Email I can find her card. Just PM me if you need it.
