Talking We just started!!!! Any GA neighbors out there?

Hi all,

We are so incredibly excited about this week. We have officially started our adoption process! YES! It feels so good!

We just submitted our application with World Partners in Lawrenceville. [EDITED] they are local (we live in Tucker, Georgia . . . any neighbors out there?). [EDITED]

Please contact me with any advice or suggestions. We are new to all of this.

We are excited about being a part of this group and hearing about everyone's experience. Hopefully, we won't be asking you too many questions.

Thank you for listening and I look forward to getting know you guys!

Welcome!

Welcome, from your neighbor -- we live in the Chamblee area!

The best of luck to you on your process and believe me, no question is not worth asking, for you will have many. I certainly did. I adopted my first daughter from Russia 6 years ago and my second from Guatemala in March. The Guatemala process turned out to be much easier for me that the Russian one.

I don't know World Partners personally, but if you have any questions let me know!

Leslie

Welcome aboard! We live in Georgia, actually Cumming, GA, which is about 45 minutes north of Atlanta. We are currently waiting on our birth certificate from Guatemala City. Our little girl will be 11 months old on 10/15/05. We are praying that she will come home soon.

This process is full of joy and happiness, and there will be days of stress, worry, and anxiety. That's where this forum comes in handy. There are tons of people here to pray for you and encourage you along the way. Congratulations!!

Yep! Seatbelt is tightly buckled. I guess it's a good thing I like rollercoasters, huh? LOL

A big HELLO from another Ga. neighbor. We live in Dawsonville. We are very close neighbors of emmasmom too! Congrats on your decision to adopt. I agree that this process is like a roller coaster, but what a ride it has been. We are adopting a little boy we are naming Jeremy. He is 11months today. We have had our referral since Jan.We are currently waiting to hear we are out of PGN. We have ran into some obstacles along the way but God has been faithful the whole way. If you ever need to talk just PM me and I would be glad to try and help any way I can. Also, Our next door neighbors used World Partners when they adopted from Kazakstan( I hope I spelled that right) a little over 3 years ago. Their process was very quick.
Take care and enjoy the ride.
Jill

Hey neighbor!

Congrats on your adoption - I pray that you will finish soon. If you got the referral in Jan and today is Oct - that means that it's been 9 months. I was kinda hoping for the 5-6 months that my agency is telling me. I pray that you hurdle over those obstacles and Jeremy is home soon.

HEY! Okay, I've already been given the "don't compare your process with another family's" etc. but since you are with WPA . . . I have to get excited!!! It's been a little over 4 months for you?!?!? Wowzeey! I hope we are just as fast. Now, if I can get hubby dearest to finish that paper for our homestudy . . . .

Reminder From The Moderator: All agency and fee based adoption service specific discussions must be done in private. Discussing agency or other fee based service specific timelines, dossier preparation time, application process time, referral times fees and any other “agency specific information” falls under this guideline.

Discussing the “In country process” is fine, provided it doesn’t get into specifics regarding the agency or fee based service provider.

The rule has been in place for a year, so I have begun banning members who violate this rule more than once. Please pay special attention to your posts before sending them…

Hey Ashley, welcome to the forum and to the process!

FYI, there's an Atlanta Guatemala adoption group called Giggles from Guatemala that gets together about 4 times a year. It's a great chance to meet other adoptive parents and also for your kid(s) to meet other kids adopted from Guatemala. Way fun!

Thank you for the welcome. I've jumped right in and everyone is so nice and helpful! How do I join the Giggles from Guatemala group? We just started the process so it will be (hopefully a short time) before our child will be home.

Thanks again for your welcome! This group is awesome!

Just wanted to welcome you to the forum. You have found a great place and a wealth of information! I'm not a GA neighbor, but an AL neighbor. We just brought Alex home on 9/14 at 3 1/2 months old and I can't imagine life without him.

Good Luck!!
Brina
