Doe's anybody know, how long it takes for the State to get certification done? and about how long I should expect to get the documents needing certified back.

I have a feeling it depends upon your State. Have you called them to see what the status is??? I did that with the Guat. embassy and they were very helpful.

I can't really help otherwise because I dropped off my documents for State certification by hand and picked 'em up by hand or had a relative do the same for the one document that had to be certified in a different State.

Hope you get 'em back soon!!

Thanks Anne, I hope I get them soon too. I am getting a little worried.
The state I am in, is California and every time I try to call, all I get is recorded information, I have not been able to get a hold of a real person.
I just didn't think it would take this long. Thanks again.

Depends on the state. In California you just take it there and it it done while you wait.

Illinois

We took our docs personally to the Index dept. at the Sec of State and had all of them (25+!!!) back in our hands in less than 1/2 hour. The Guatemalan Consulate was only a few blocks away from the Sec of State and the Kinkos' (for copies). I had Federal Express stuff ready for the return from the Consulate. Met the Vice Consul personally and had our documents back in less than 24 hours. The only exception to this was our marriage certificate which was originally from Hawaii. That took 5-6 weeks and then it was back to Los Angeles to that consulate with jurisdiction over Hawaii which was another 3 days. (Needless to say, I had 2 copies of the license processed at the same time due to the wait.) Good Luck!

I am in Maryland and I took the documents to the State for certification and walked away 10 minutes later with everything done and in my hands! They were so happy to help and very easy to work with!

Now I'm scared

I guess I should have drove down south and done this in person, but instead, I overnight mailed everything.
I hope my paper work is not lost or something.
Two weeks seems a bit long, when you can just walk in and get it done.
Thank you every one, for your help. I really appreciate it.
Good luck to all of you and I am going to have to try and locate my paper's. SOON!!!!

I think it depends on what state you are in. I personally took mine and they did them while I waited. It probably took less than 10 minutes.
