Question on Guatemala's Adoption
My boss and his wife are 3/4 of the way through their paperwork and their home study is only half complete. Now I hear that Guatemala is in the mist of changing somethings that may mess them up with their adoption.
Anyone know what's going on right now. Are they in the mist of changing the laws? My sister is in the process of adopting from Vietnam, so I'm not keeping up with any of the other countries. Thanks, Kellie |

A good source for information is Guatadopt.com
The proposed legislation is in congress now. It would change the way referrals are handled through Guatemala and could stall adoptions and change them drastically. The legislation has to go through 2 more readings. The 3rd being an issue by issue disection of the legislation...in my humble opinion I don't think it will pass, but that provides little comfort to those just starting out. Tell them to hang in, hold tight and pray hard.
