Update On Our Guatemalan Domestic Adoption
We are currently in a hotel in the city where our son is in the hospital. We went to the hospital today and found out that his culture was negative after 48 hours. They took him off the IV's and installed us in a Mother's room for the day. We got to hold him, feed him and change him as much as we wanted. In the afternoon we were told that the birthmom has decided to parent her son and that she wanted to come to the hospital to hold him. She wanted us to be there. We waited and waited and neither she nor our Agency showed up. Our Agency director came about 2 1/2 hours after she said she would come. She had gone to meet with the birthmom and counseled with her. The poor girl had been at home by herself for much of the day and was really going through grieving for her baby boy. Our director left the ball in her court. If she wants to parent her child, she needs to call in the morning, otherwise we would be taking the baby home with us--OH YEAH, I forgot to tell you that the foster home where they were going to keep the baby for two weeks cannot take him and their other foster family is a lot farther away. We are being allowed to foster a "High Risk Placement", meaning that the foster mom has 10 working days after tomorrow to change her mind. We are at peace in this whole situation. If God wants this boy in our family, it will happen. We want his best. It was a privilege just to spend a whole day with this beautiful baby boy! He is a darling and easy baby (so far)--the nurses think so too. He got lots of hugs and kisses today and NO eye pokes from his eager sister!! LOL Sarah was a star today and was happy and content emptying and filling the diaper bag all day!! LOL Kids don't need toys! We find out tomorrow morning whether or not we take him home with us. It is not over untilt is over!!

We are watching and waiting for news on this remarkable story!!
With our first adoption the birthmom changed her mind for about 3 hours but she said she wanted to see us and tell us good bye. We finally found the strength to go see her and tell her good bye but when we arrived she said she wanted us to raise her baby. This part is VERY difficult for the birthmoms! But they know why they had made an adoption plan and they have to process everything. Just a gut wrenching time! I say all this to say that I know pretty much how you are feeling and I am thinking of you!

What a story, I pray that this little boy finds his place of comfort in your family! And the ** @ peace! I don't think we can imagine how it feels to be on that side (unless having to once give up a child or losing a child) of the adoption. It's got to be tough and as tough to be in limbo waiting for gods plan to unfold. I wish you all the best and your in my prayers JULIE

Wow-that is a testimony of willing to wait on God for you and your family!. I never thought too much, until I was a mom, about how hard it would be for a birthmom to give a child up. Now that I have been a mom 5 times,I understand. I hope that whatever God has for you, He will make it known soon. Meanwhile, at least that baby has a caring person looking out for him!!! Our prayers are with you-
Doretta

Roxanne -
I can't imagine what an emotional roller coaster this must be for you. You seem to be in good spirits though and handling this with a very positive attitude. I really admire what you are doing and am not sure that I would be strong enough to spend time with a baby who might not be mine in the end. Your strength is amazing! Glad to hear that Sara is enjoying this time. So glad you can all be together. You and your family are in my prayers.

Hi, Roxanne,
I'm glad you have been able to spend some sweet time with this adorable baby! My heart goes out to you and to this young birthmom. I can't imagine the feeling of knowing I need to give the baby up for his own best interests, but she obviously loves him and that must be so difficult. I pray that she makes the right decision and that God will guide her to make the best choice. I really admire your strength and the way you're handling this. I wish the best for you and for this little boy. Please let us know how it's going. You'll be in my prayers. take care, Judy |

Hang in there. God placed him in your family for a reason, even if it ends up being for a short time. My brother-in-law had a high risk adoption and after 15 months do to complications with the bio family they finalized there adoption. As you, they kept with their faith and followed what God wanted them to do. I will keep you in my prayers and hope you bring him home today.

What a difficult situation - it must be so hard for both his birthmother to make that kind of decision and for you to be in limbo - I hope that things work out in whatever way is best for that beautiful baby.

Thank goodness you have Sarah, I'm sure you would be much more stressed if you didn't already have her. I admire your strength in wanting to foster knowing your at risk. I will keep your family in my thoughts and hope that you will keep us all posted.
