Is anyone else having a hard time naming their child??

Everyone posting sounds like they've had names picked out for their child from early stages...my dh and I haven't definitely decided on one yet! (I have, I just can't convince him....) He wanted to wait until our visit, to try a few out on the baby to see how they fit. Well, our visit was 2 weeks ago, the baby is 4 months old and still, no name! His given name is Cristo Fernando, so we're using Christopher/Cristofer for a middle name....at least we've gotten that far. I'd prefer a classic name, but with a twist - preferably going with a Hispanic version of a traditional English name.

Is anyone else in the same boat?? Does anyone have any favorite names they'd be willing to share?

~Tricia

Same here!

I can't offer much help, but we too are still undecided on what we want to name him when we readopt. I also have my favorite, but I am also hoping I can convince my DH to agree with me. It's very difficult because we do not have the same taste at all. It seems as though there's is no common ground yet. I have to say we are not as far into the process are you are yet. We are currently waiting for DNA results. Good luck. Hopefully we'll get some ideas from others.

Hi,

I'm Hispanic so I vote for the name Christian...it's my 8-month-old bio son's name. His full name is Christian Gabriel. I thought the name was pretty versatile because it translates well from English to Spanish, and he can go by Chris or Gabe if he wants to.

I think these names translate well:

Julian (the name of my older son)
Thomas/Tomas (my older son's middle name)
Sebastian
Adrian
Nicholas/Nicolas
Roman
Simon
Daniel
David
Samuel

Good luck deciding!

I wanted to name our son a spanish name but it also had to go with our polish last name. Two weeks prior to our referral we decided on Andres Thomas and call him Andy. The ** didn't want to name him so that was the best part for us. The funny thing was we had 15 minutes to decide...luckly we had already spoke about this. I was afraid he wouldn't look like an Andres but when we saw his photo is was perfect. Good luck.

We didn't pick out a name for our baby until we had PINK....we'd tried out a couple of names, he was William for a few months, then had a fling with Brian for a while (until we realized that we had a Alex and Brian while my neice and nephew were Alexis and Ryan --just seemed a bit too rhymish...), then when we got PINK and were planning our Pickup trip, my dd said "what about Scott?"...it was perfect and fits him perfectly....

I wouldn't worry too much right now...maybe call him by a nickname (so you don't seem undecided) and then figure out what name fits him later.

Hope this helps!

Thanks you guys - great name ideas! We're dealing with a very german last name, so it doesn't make it easy! We've been jokingly calling the baby Paco, and it seems to have stuck with my dh. His other choice is Roy.....do you see what I'm dealing with here? I'm ASSUMING he's kidding (on both counts), but with him, you never quite know. I think he's slowly coming around to my choice, which is Mateo Christopher. (Matt, Matty, Teo...a lot of choices. It means "gift of God"...I didn't choose it because of that but it sort of sealed the deal for me.)

Glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem...I was hoping that the right name would just jump out at us like yours did, Pamsko!

2mrsdavis: let me know how your decision goes!

Our child was named Mirian Noemi, we wanted to keep as much of her name as possible and use some of her birth mom and my Mom's name so we added an "a" to Mirian, Miriana and gave her my Mom's name as one middle name and her Mom's middle name as the other, so she will be named Miriana Carol Isabel - we wanted all aspects of her family involved.

Some favorite boy names - Reese, Grant, Will
Good luck

Juan Carlos

We also could not decide on a name. Our babies birth name is Juan Carols. Our last name is Weiner pronounced (Winer no Weaner). So Juan Carlos Weiner just did not sound right. I wanted to keep Carlos as our babies middle name but my husband did not like that either. So after much debate we decided on Damian Nikolas. We also liked Damon as a first name but finally decided on Damian since it means Divine Power. Damon Christopher sounds cute. Good luck..

Oh gosh... we are having such trouble finding a name for our third. Especially since my husband keeps saying that "Bob" is his choice... he is just kidding, at least I think !

We named one of our sons "Nicolas" so I love that name.

Anyhoo... my choice for our third son is Alex Blaise.... dh says he doesn't like the name Blaise but can't come up with another option.... We'll just have to see what our third son's Guatemalan name is and go from there.

Whatever name you decide on will be perfect
