Tonight I decided to pass some time looking on the internet for adoption announcements and ideas for wording our daughter's announcement. Well lets just say I have been crying for the past 30 minutes. They are both tears of sadness and tears of joy. Longing for the day when our angel comes home.

I know that we have a lot of creative people of the forum. Share your beautiful adoption announcements with us waiters. Seeing children united with their forever families give me hope that one day it will be our turn.

Did you find any great sites? If so could you PM me. I'm still debating whether I am going to send out announcements or just include it in our Christmas cards this year. I kind of worry that people will feel obligated to send a gift if they get an announcement.

I feel mixed too, especially about the gift thing. But as I really feel this will be our last baby, I am sort wanting to do the whole bit, announcement and all. Whether I get my act together and send it out will remain to be seen.

I agree w/AmyKK, for me it is between an announcment, or a Christmas letter w/the story and pictures.

Renee designs my albums for my wedding photography and has been working on some announcements as well. She can do just about anything you guys need done if you want them. Im posting two examples of her work. PM me if you think you are interested.

We used an announcement off a sharing site for photos. We picked our favorite picture and then wrote:

Sometimes the smallest things take up the biggest place in your heart!

Please pray he will be home soon.

We sent these mostly to close friends, but felt it was time to send something out to those that have been so supportive. We will do something similar when we get home.

I just surfed around and found wording that I liked and used it on the cheaper cards.

I cry every time I read the poem.

This was was ours said on the front. I wrote it combining many that I had seen and some original stuff. Kyle was our first son, adopted from Russia. I used a card creating program. Inside on the left was a picture of Kyle with the famous quote from the original Winnie the Pooh "and so they went off together hand in hand", with a picture of the back of Christopher Robin dragging poor Pooh. On the Right we all the "vitals".


We have begun thinking about something for our new son, and decided we would follow the same format, with 2 changes...the poem will be written from Kyle's point of view and we are including "your gift of thoughts and prayers for our family will be appreciated"

A Journey of Love

Mother and Child
Father and Son
Words we only could hope
Would be sung



And then a small voice
From a faraway land...
Cried, "Mommy, Daddy, please hold my hand"



We followed that voice;
And now our long journey has ended.
Through one little boy,
Our hearts have been mended.


So, it is that we announce with great joy...
We have a son of our own!
Through the miracle of adoption our Family has grown!

Our annoucements will be similar to BriellesDad's second announcement. Black background with bw pics. I have several different layouts that I like, but we want to wait until we pick up our little guy so that I can take my own pictures....I CAN'T WAIT!!!
